I'm getting a bit fed up with crap MPG at the moment.

Although I need to update it with a lot of fill ups here's my fuelly:
http://www.fuelly.com/driver/dombooth/grande-punto

Most recent tank:
Filled on 11th Feb at 33898 - 36.99L
Filled on 18th Feb at 34199 - 40.77L

1.4 8v Active Sport.

I get it about 35MPG.

Parkers saying it should be 47MPG. :(

What's wrong with my GP? :(

I have the same engine mate and I only get like 34/35mpg and I get it serviced regularly.

Depends all on the driving style aswell though. I went on a 70 mile drive on the motorway 2 months back and I was getting 42mpg :-/

I don't drive slowly but I don't break the speed limit.

The instant readout on dash is usually always around 35mpg

Select 'instant fuel consumption' and you can see where you can improve matters which is normally at start off/acceleration.

I get 48-50 from my 10 year old 1.2 188 and 52-54mpg on my 1.9JTD diesels however I do live in a rural area and can travel 25-50 miles without stopping for traffic lights etc

I usually always have it on instant but I do do a lot of stopping / starting.

I'm filling up tonight so I'll try and drive with a lighter foot on acceleration and see how I go. :)

Theres your answer, remember MPG (or litres to you youngsters) figures are achieved (by all manufacturers) in laboratory conditions.....i.e. no traffic lights, speed bumps, roundabouts, idiot drivers, young seagulls standing in the road refusing to move, potholes, road works, bus drivers pulling out from stops, hills, headlong wind etc

Yep. (n) I did expect more out of this car though tbh.

How accurate is the computer? I got like 7 from
Cold up to 20 or so after a half mile. I stopped. Reset it
And got 35 straight away :-s

Coincidentally I did a 200mile motorway journey the other day in my 1.4 8v Dynamic (no idea if theres a difference between that and the 'Active Sport'.
I averaged (according to trip) 47.1MPG (y)

When I drive motorway journeys I usually do 68 the whole way, this keeps the revs just under 3500rpm. If I accelerate to just 70 the mpg plummets and I end up averaging about 44mpg. Really wish I had a 6th gear, the gearing in this car is too low for motorway cruising.

Same engine. :)

On motorways I tend to do an indicated 75 as I know in my car that is a GPS 70.

I have a 1.4 16v which is a slighlty different engine but I get 50mpg easily when going on 50 mile round trip each day to work, the mPG can be achieved you just need to be every careful with braking aswell as accelerating also look ahead and brake slowly if you know your going to need to stop. Works well for me :D

Slowing down slowly is no fun though. ;) :p
