As some may have seen, I recentky had problems with my egr valve and the car not ticking over snd cutting out. I took the egr valve off andclesned and fitted back on, all worked fine.

Now a week orso on, its reallystruggling to build revs with no power at all, then I get to adound 3000 revs and it all kicks back turbo and all. Its drivable but snnoying feeling like a 95 year old man (no disrespect).

I wondered if anybody had any advice on possible causes before I go and buy myself a new egr valve and itnot cure anything.

I've replaced the EGR valve twice on my GP Sprting 1.9 JTD. On both occasions, the symptoms were slow building up revs, turbo kicking in violently at over 2k revs. Last time I went to the garage to replace the valve, the mechanic replaced temporarily the valve with a can of coke(!), drove the car round the block, drove fine, pulled nicely. that was his way of telling the EGR valve was faulty. I only once bothered cleaning the EGR valve, only to have to replace it the day after! Frankly, I would not bother cleaning it. Just get a price from a Fiat and a Vauxhall garage and buy the cheaper EGR valve for your car. I understand you are able to replace it yourself, so it won't cost you more than £100. Please bear in mind I can only talk from own experience, which I hope will save you from further trouble in the near future. Good luck!

I had a quick look over the car this morning and found a gasket that must have come from the pipe at the bottom of the egr valve. Going to try putting this back in and see if it makes a difference. I didnt see it fall out when I dismantled so wasn't aware there was even one in there.

Im braced to fork out for a new egr though so if this works it will purely be a bonus.(y)
