Technical GPS 1.9 m jet won't start

Hi, newbie looking for help girlfriends GP won't start.
It's a 1.9 diesel sporting (07 plate) 50k miles, she was driving to work and it just stopped revving, towed it home. And now just won't start. It will turn over and occasionally fires but lasts like 1-2secs before its splutters and stops. It won't connect to OBD scanner (but I think that's just cos fiats can be a little temperamental). There are no warning lights or error messages. I've removed and cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the fuel filter,
It feels like a fuelling fault to me, but diesels getting in and out the fuel filter, and through the injector rail!
But I have no idea whether it's enough fuel or not? I'm reluctant to buy a fuel pump as there not cheap! I've tried connecting a temp earth lead between battery and engine,and a hair dyer on the glow plugs, any similar faults, advice, ideas I would be really grateful! :worship:

There is a fuel cut off whenever something like that happens.

There is a button on the drivers side footwell just at the end of the plastic side trim. Hopefully that should get the car started.

I had to press that in when I replaced my fuel filter.

Hi, no nothing at all, I'm starting to wonder whether the high pressure fuel pump isn't enough pressure!

Try blanking off EGR valve
