Hi there. :)

I have an unknown knocking from the front end. Its been into 2 garages and they cant find a fault though they can clearly hear it when its driven.
The knocking noise is audible when going over bumps in the road and does travel up to the steering wheel but this is only very slight and hardly felt.

One garage thought it could be the front right shock but on inspection could find nothing. The other thought it could be a bush on the front anti roll bar but again on inspection could find nothing. (n)

Any idea's?

The noise is prominent and i'm concerned it will lead to more issues if not sorted. Any tips much appreciated (y)

im goin to be no help at all but i had a astra that did this. i had it up on the ramp at my mates garage n searched for a hour but couldnt find anythin wrong.

my guess was maybe it was smthin like a ball joint that couldnt take the weight or smthin along them lines but i neva did find out wot it was

I do hope u have better luck than i did though :confused:

From past experience it is probably the anti roll bar link aka drop link they do seem very weak on the GP and prone to failing even if you cant feel any play in them chances are they are the issue...

They are not expensive...

and are reasonably easy to replace if you have access to a jack a set of spanners and alan keys and ideally a socket set :

I've got an 06 1.9 and had a knock starting which steadily got worse. Sort of thing you start turning the radio off to listen for. Noticed on uneven road surfaces - not potholes, more where it undulates. Took to it local Fiat specialist (MVC in Manchester

hi there top mounts would be number 1 suspect if all seems ok there not very good on the gp.

Definately top mounts (same issue here, just ordered 2 yesterday since they are equal wearing like breaks) and get the drop links done at the same time - much quieter then I promise :)
