Hi guys

I have a '59 1.4 GP with 23k miles and recently had the front 2 tyres changed (last week)

It appears to be since then, but I've noticed like a rumbling sound, like a flat tyre noise coming from the back. I stopped the car when I heard it, got out and checked the tyres and they were all fine. However, today someone was in the car and said what's that noise? They suggested it might be the suspension/shock absorbers

Also, thinking back. I've noticed in the last few weeks, that when I get in my car (parked on a slight gradient) I take the handbrake off, then my foot off the footbrake to roll back a bit so I can pull out (without hitting my sister's car) and even though it's downhill, it wouldn't move at all. I put the handbrake on again, then took it off. I pressed the foot brake a few times - nothing.

It's only when I slowly released the clutch it made a clunk noise and then started to roll, so it seems like something was seizing up? Any ideas what it could be? I know a mechanic who is very trust worthy, so will probably just take it to him, but would like to have any idea of what it could be, and if it's still okay to keep driving it this week?

Thanks

hi, thanks for the reply. I thought it may have been something to do with the brakes, but I thought pressing/depressing the pedal would "release" it?

however, it hasn't happened recently (which I thought was strange as it's getting colder) but what really is getting worse is that flat tyre sound from the rear of the car. It's especially bad when going up a hill

thanks again

it used to happen to me when slowing down from a motorway trip.

Does it ever sound like crunching snow lol?

I still can't work out what it is, but it's been doing it for about 6 months on mine so yeah, its fine to drive mate. Worry when you can feel it through the pedals or steering wheel :)

Had it looked at now. It was "one of the links on the shock absorbers" that were loose and rattling about, so got the two at the front (even though it sounded like it was from the back) replaced for £70 incl. labour

They also cleaned out the dust and rubbish from the brake drums at the back (that's what was causing the clunk when setting off from being parked)

:)
