Well, was driving about 60mph on motorway this evening for about 5 mins and the engine management light flashed on and off for about 5 seconds, then never returned back on :/

Was this just a glitch and nothing to worry about ?

Thanks

you need to have a diagnostic done with an obd II code reader Google obd codes to get some idea of the vast number of potential things it could be

a flashing mil often refers to a missfire but....

without the code any guessing would be silly....

Could say coil pack ht leads or plugs that's the best part of £90 spent and it might not cure it

then guess map / maf sensor you don't say which 1.4 you have so there goes another £80 to £150 in parts alone

then cam sensor £35 ish

then after all that you find its a hego sensor for example

Ohhh dear, sorry its the 8v...hmm might purchase a reader then :/

until any unburnt fuel ignights in the catalitic converter and burns out the internal destroying the cat.... What would possibly be £20 fix is then a £250+ bill for remedial work....... ;)

or which ever part that is acting up totally fails at 1am 50 miles from home on a back road when its -10 degrees

Or that. haha! OR you could hand it in to a garage who charge you 8 hours labour checking everything and tell you everything is fine must have just been a glitch!

Nope no cambelt :/....been driving it today and it hasnt came back on so far (touch wood) Cars done 40,000 Miles, it did flash last night again though like for 5 seconds then never came back on.....Car felt no different :/

Guess ill just ignore it until it stays permanently on maybe

free software called torque can be had from google marketplace

Ok it wont be as advanced as a full fiat multi ecu scan set up

But it does read the ECU and should point you in the right direction

i leave mine in the car strangely ive used it on nearly all my mates cars but never mine ;)
