Hi All,

This evening when i left work i had some trouble starting my '56 Grande Punto 20k miles

I'm just after some advice or to see if anyone else has had a similar issue..

when i turned the key the radio lights, and fan's but it didn't start no clicking or nothing no attempt to crack and the immobility light goes out.

I attempted to turn the key a few more times with no success taking the key in and out of the ingnition. Colleague came over and i was showing him what was happening and it started.

Drove it home and then went to the shops about 30mins ago and at my house it had the same problem again eventually starting leaving the shops again a few attempts taking the key out etc and it started.

turned on and off a few times at home and it seams fine, just don't want it to get worse if its a quick fix.

I've noticed when i go from the first key turn to the second (when it should crank) the fans stop and only the battery, engine and oil lights stay on but once its started there are no warning lights.

Any Idea's?

Thanks.

faulty battery perhaps? how long have you had the battery in the car?
not sure but i've had the car 5 months i don't think its a bad battery as its not clicking at all and all lights, fans work.

and once it starts its fine dosn't struggle or anything.

To be fair it has happened once before about 3 months ago but it was a once off and its been fine since up to today.

I had a similar problem in my '07 T-Jet with 100,000km on it. About once a week it would exhibit the same issue you have describe. Ever since I installed a ground wire kit in the engine bay I haven't had the problem. When I get time I'll post some details and pics of my car.
