Friday evening drove half a mile, parked, came back to car an hour later. Started car but realized I would be early so turned ignition to accessories for 15 mins while playing angry birds (heating and lights on but engine off).

Car then would not start, made a ticking noise and buzzing sound but not turning over. Multiple warnings, airbag failure, low fuel. Got a jump start and that got engine moving, had battery tested yesterday and came up as fine. Started today but airbag failure warning still there.

I don't want to be stranded, any suggestions? I bought a power pack from hallfords so I can jump start myself now but would rather I didn't have to.

I accidentally left my radio on for 5 minutes whilst I went inside to grab some stuff, came back out and car was dead everything flickered and that was it wouldn't do a thing. Charged the battery and still didn't do anything so bought a new battery and it's been fine ever since.

Also a 08 T-Jet, 4 years on the standard battery could be why, should last longer than that!

Thanks for the replies, have a charger (4 amp) on order from amazon but drove around for an hour on saturday to try and make sure battery had some juice in it for this week. (im not sure if this charger will be too fast, there were some that were only 500mA for topping up batteries rather than recharging almost flat ones)?

While looking at the battery (sucking air through my teeth, may as well look the part) I noticed the fuse box (situiated right next to the battery) was not properly closed (hinges on right side were not fully clipped in) - the car was serviced a few weeks ago, maybe they didnt close it properly or maybe its been like that for over a year... Anyway there was some gunk inside, not much but definatly some stuff from the road and it has been wet the last few days - im thinking water in the fuse box could cause the car to do strange things (like drain the battery, make the ECU think the airbags are faulty etc etc). I cleaned out the gunk, is there anythign else I should do with the fuse box?

The battery is only a year or two old, someone pulled out infront of me a while back and some repairs were done I assume it was changed at that point - kind of shocked the Hallfords dude as its a Hallfords battery (slightly better than the one he was trying to sell me) - when he tested it his testing device reported that it was fine and I assume Hallfords can test their own batteries (ok ok probably not but you get the idea).

One final thing, is it ok to unplug the battery for 10 mins or so (to try and reset the ECU and make the airbag light go off)?
