I was in an accident earlier this week which resulted me hitting the back of another car, fairly slow speeds.
Both headlights have broken brackets, front crossmember is dinted, and the wings are splayed, is this due to the bend in the crossmember? And I'm replacing everything but what are the bolt shape on the crossmember? They don't look like standard hexagonals to me.
Ill try and get a picture up.

I've not had a chance to look at the bolts in question but if not hex then I'd guess probably torx. Torx are sort of star shaped and used widely on cars.

Its not going to be a cheap fix....

if you look the front beam is separate to the wings... if the inner wings are bent its going to cost more..

any damage to the air bag sensor / Radiator/ FMIC

i really hate those X and O and * and bolts... also those wrench bolts all sizes and shapes... never have wrench that size i need. when i have something to dissemble, i never put those bolts back i always use normal hex Allen bolts to assemble back. screw those bolts!

They make it easier to assemble in the factory and allow more torque to be applied.....

also in safety critical situations its inadvisable to replace bolts with other than manufacturers specification unless you find some to match the tensile strength of the OEM bolt... eg normal bolts are 4.4 high tensile are 8.8 proper socket caps are 10.9 But then the risk is some bolts are designed to fail at a set point so in some instances when you might just do a carte blanch replacement with 10.9's that 4.4 might be there for a reason.....

Cheers for the help guys
I know it ain't going to be cheap :/
Radiator and intercooler are okay,

I can afford the parts I think it's just that my girlfriend is like 36 wks pregnant
So I don't want to rip my car apart and her go into labour lol.
Gonna have to though because MOT is end of November
And it won't pass with those lights.

Andy you'll probably see a blue punto mooching about goole with no grilles in haha ;)

Thanks again,
Will post findings when I take bumper off during week,

Kyle

Andy Monty - yes, i didn't think that way.... i agree with you for bolts that are on important places, like holding engine, wheels... but for holding plastics and covers in place is not really important... and you can allways buy same bolts with different strenght... also important is thread dimension, not all bolts have same thread distance.

you will also need to get a set of torx bits to remove the bumper

You not going to go through insurance? if you have clobbered someone else from behind i take it they are claiming off you so your no claims are going to be affected anyway

Its ok i was just making it clear to other members, My father works in a hardware store and often gets strange mangled bolts waved in his face with no markings on them... When he asks what its off gets answers like "its for the front suspension on a van" he wont sell them anything to cover his own back but points them to the nearest dealership

He had next to no damage so he wasn't bothered
I was unsure whether he was insured too because he was adamant to not go through insurance and he didn't sound like he was from this country either

Oh and I have the torx bits for the bumper,
Stripped my old car panels and bumpers down so they're in the shed.
I just didn't know what the cross member bolts were but I'm pretty sure they're just female torx bolts. Gonna order some sockets tomorrow
Had a look at ribe in halfrauds today and its definitely not them.

If the headlamps are intact and its only the brackets that have gone then Fiat do bracket kits to fix the units, rather than replace them.

Wings don't look out tbh, more the bonnet looks like its not shut properly. Is this the case

If the wing's are out then you've a major issue tbh as it'll normally only be a chassis leg out causing this.

is there any damage on the car you hit and is it going though the insurance if so you might as well get your car done by your insurance company as your going to be stung anyway for hitting someone(y)

Not so, you'll have your excess to pay and the high the cost of the claim the more your insurance will be affected, so OP not claiming will limit any premium increase.

I'm not going through insurance nor is the guy I hit.

Waiting on the delivery of some tools and then I'm going to strip the car back and assess any damage

From what I can see I think the bonnet has been shunted back slightly which may be exaggerating the gap a little bit, but it still locks okay.

From a distance you wouldn't even tell I've been in an accident :/

Just praying the inner wings aren't damaged :/
