Technical HELP!!! Having a problem with my GP..

Because i work part time and funds are an issue at the moment, plus the rising cost in insurance it kills me to even put this on the road.

But i was being a bit dramatic on the £200, if its over £500 then i really cant afford it.

Sake. Why don't you SORN it if you can? Not much cars that are cheaper than the GP.

Does sound like the air con clutch,
start it with the air con on and off, see if there is any change in the sound.

I had this exact same problem. Previously in cold days it would sometimes stop the car from starting full stop. So I'd leave the ignition on and press the clutch in and it eventually would start, after the car was in an accident recently the alternator seized whilst being stood still (waiting for the repair). So they replaced my alternator and belt. And my battery is a brand new one that's been fitted less than 3 months ago and yet I still get this problem although not half as bad since the replacements. It's especially bad when engine is cold I.e cold day or having been left over night. Mine is the 1.2 active so no air con. The belt just runs the alternator. It does my head in every time it happens. But I'm that used to it I forget about it. This thread has jogged my memory and so I've finally posted about it. If the cure is found I beg of you to tell me lol. Thanks a million. :D:D

Dont know why people are getting caught up on my ideas if i need to pay large sums of money to get it repaired....

As I said, it is now booked in for an over night in the garage and everyone's points noted and pass on to the mechanics

Thanks all for your positive and helpful comments.

Your logic:

Car has problem, roughly £200 to fix
Insurance too expensive
Sell car for a lot less than you bought it for (depreciation)
Buy an older, higher mileage car for the same or less amount of money
Older, higher mileage car has lots more problems and costs the same in insurance anyway

So all in all, you'll end up losing a lot more if you twist, rather than stick.

Hope this helps.

So here's my problem.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?nomobile=1&v=NpYAsqg0sQ0

Poor audio quality, was shot from inside the car but you can hear it.

Stats:
1.2 active 3 door
50,468 miles on clock
New alternator and belt last week
New battery 2 months ago.
Good amount of oil in there as well.
Happens especially when engine is cold and or left without running or for more than a few hours.

Thanks for explaining MJ.
I got it super cheap as it is anyway (forgot to explain) so i can sell for exact same price as i bought it.

Im going to grin and bare it and scrape through for this beauty of a car.
Should see a build thread soon.

Thanks again for explaining.

Nice one mate, good choice.

My belt squels sometimes too, but only when its really cold. We live in a country that has temperature variations on 50C sometimes, just one of those things with rubber.
