Hello,

So the time has come to replace the turbo on my 1.9 Grande. The turbo is leaking oil and making the siren noise, I have started removing it and before it got dark I got as far as removing:

Turbo to intercooler hose
Airbox/intake pipes up until the turbo
Turbo heat-shield

So I'm ready to go tomorrow. Before I go any further I wanted to check from anyone who's done it what's the best way to get it off? I was going to remove the exhaust side first from under the car, and looks like I can lift the turbo + manifold up out the bonnet, is that right?

Any advice welcome!
Cheers, Tom

I have seen a friend remove the down pipe and undo the exhaust manifold , the turbo oil pipes and remove it from under the car
And fitting was the reverse

Good luck with the job

Thanks, I'll take another look in daylight this does sound easier.

Are you going for a straight suap or an upgrated one?

I'm just doing a swap, or may look at having mine repaired if it works out cheaper.

How many miles you done? Is it remapped? Mines sounded like a siren since the day fiat fitted it 2 years ago.

Currently on 64k, and was remapped within the first 20k so it's lasted well. Has been silent up until around 1/2k miles ago then the whine started, which has gradually got louder to the point it's embarrassing to drive, also a fair bit of oil on the intake and intercooler pipe when taking this off which it didn't have before.

It would be great if you make lots of pictures and write a guide:D
Somehow everybody's gotta do it sometime haha.
I tried removing the exhaust side once when I checked the state of the turbo but I could not get it off.
