Hi All,

I was sitting at tarffic lights tonight on my way home from work and I attempted to pull away (casually as I always do) and I get a little bit of wheel spin. I have owened my GP for a year now and this is the first time this has happened. I must say it has been really bad here today in Newcastle/Gateshead with Rain and I wonder if it was just the bad weather or was it more likley just me?

I know there are a few road works around in the area and it is possible for there to be some other substance on the road.

hey the rain bad where i am, all im doing is wheel spinning had car 3 days, ****ty budget tyres

Bald tyres? or cheap tyres as other have said?

I only recently changed the front tyres on my 107 which is only a 1.0. On the old ones which were completely bald I got wheel spin in 3rd in the wet (if I was really trying that is) Good fun until you need to do an emergency stop and can't!

i've got brand new tyres and i was getting a bit of spin today in newcastle .The roads are very wet a slippy

I have the same here with the Bridgestone potenza's I have in the front.
Last week I was driving up the highway, once I got a straight I floored the pedal, 3rd gear 1500rpm, and the wheels went spinning.
Must say it was raining like hell, only colder:rolleyes:

Awful grip generally. No weight over front wheels, stupidly high ride height. I've got Toyos on the front and am still prone to scary understeer around corners and roundabouts. To be fair, sometimes that's been my fault being too lazy to downshift and having no drive, then having to absolutely plant it to recover. Still, scary stuff, especially at low speeds where its unexpected.

Just need more power-uh :)

Cheap winter tyres fitted to mine are cack
Great in corners, but rubbish braking and easily wheelspun if just a pinch of salt to hard on the clutch

Ziggy

Always worth spending a bit of money on winter tyres. Though I would never advocate buying cheap tyres of any kind, cheap summer tyres don't get you stuck do they?

Tbf as well as tyres and conditions, the road itself can give you issues if its one of the low grip low noise surfaces, or like a rounderbout near me (swalwell coming from blaydon way) where its built in such a way that the camber transfers the weight to the back left corner when you are at the hold line. So any attempt at a sharp pull away in a front drive car results in spinning the front left wheel and has done in about 5 different cars with a variety of tyres.
