Off Topic Next Car?

I got a T-jet right now but I'd like more power so I'm saving all my pennies for a Honda s2000.

Btw a mk6 fiesta st is a pretty poor performing car, over fuels, under powered. I have an mjet 1.9 and its a pretty decent car. Excellent mpg and with a remap will outrun a few unsuspecting cars, quicker than a tjet anyways.

this is what i wanted to do, no low milage gt's though :( and dont think i could live without a turbo!

Could always supercharge it, that's what I plan to do eventually. I'm not looking for a GT though I'm gonna go for a regular s2000, hopefully AP2. What are the differences with the GT? I thought they all had the same performance or is it just cosmetic.

A multijet is quicker than a T-Jet....dont think so lol, maybe with a remap yes, obviously torque helps the multijet keep up but its not enough to beat it. Just the other day a multijet was trying to pull away from me but it never could!

GT is literally just with the hardtop roof, can buy a hardtop separately of course, its just the lack of a turbo and a high revving vtec engine that puts me off (n) oh and orange digital dials hmmmm...

Ive been looking at upgrading for about 6 months now and as soon as I find a car I like, I get declined finance, something pops up or its gone by the time I go see it :(

But what about a T/M jet as mentioned? an MX5? Got a friend selling his mk6.5 Fiesta Zetec S anniversary (AP coilovers, Full miltec 4-2-1 decat exhaust system, gloss black grilles and wheels and the checkkered roof, remapped and torque limiter in 1st and 2nd removed to give 128bhp and 132lbft ) for £5k???

£4-5k could get you something MUCH better, in my opinion, than a punto.

@MISC1691 seems to have about the same list that I would say, but mine:

audi a3
audi s3
fiesta st
suzuki swift sport (cheap insurance)
golf gti (mk1 to mk4)
golf gti anniversary (mk4)

The above cars are what i've been looking at for the price.

I wouldn't go from a punto to another punto unless you absolutely love the first one so much you want a quicker version.

I do like my punto and am happy with it, but if i had the time again, I would have spent my £4.5k on a cheaper car and had the rest to pay for an increased insurance on something quicker OR I would have bought a tjet. But I wouldn't upgrade from a punto to a punto t-jet.

Making a decision on which car is hard, but if you ring around and see what you can get insured on first you'll be fine.

Ultimately though, £4-5k is a lot of money and in my opinion, can buy much more of a car than a tjet.

The only thing I will say is take in to consideration the running costs of cars, more powerful car is usually more money to run.

Even if you compare a T-Jet to a 1.2 Punto - Tyres, Brakes and everything will cost more to replace.

Fiats are normally at the cheaper end of the spectrum to maintain, but its the running costs that will make certain cars a nightmare to run and maintain. But for example AGP to AGP SS, the SS needs an oil change every 6,000 so do 18,000 a year and that's about £300 odd quid more running costs than the standard AGP in oil service alone. Tyres, see the difference from 215/45/r17 (Conti SC5 = £141 fitted) to 215/40/R18 (Conti SC2 = £182) so changing front tyres are £80 more and thats comparing old for new tyre! But partly down to stupid tyre size!

For example, I could probably go sell my AGP and buy an Old M3 for "crazy" power and RWD but it would cost me a fortune to run compared to my AGP! Easy to buy, costly to maintain!

This, basically in response to Sam.

I could go and buy a V12 20 year old Beemer for 4-5k which is far more car than a crappy Punto, but I'd have to sell my house to maintain it.

none of the cars I suggested have stupid running costs, nor was I suggesting buying a v12. The OP asked for suggestions and thats what I gave :)

it is true that the above cars will cost more to run than the punto, but if the owner feels it is worth it, he/she will pay the cost.

edit: OP, seen the tjet for sale in the classifieds? £4500

Sam, IMO you have listed a bunch of old bangers. A mk 4 golf FFS! is it made of stone or had they invented bronze by then? They are pants anyway, even VAG lovers admit the mk4 is a pupp, the fiesta ST is a chav wagon, the a3 is as bad if not worse than the golf to drive and an s3 at that price will be a heap. The swift is good though.

Im not convinced a standard tjet would beat a mjet..

Ive got a mjet, maybe off the line but rhe torques jus gonna munch the tjet

I have a tjet and my missus used to have an mjet. Mine was faster off the line and quicker getting upto speed, then it was fairly even. I think the 6 speed gearbox and slightly more power of the mjet would just slightly edge the tjet once upto top speed, but how often is that goin to happen in the real world!

I got rid of my Abarth 1 month ago and got a Vauxhall Astra VXR in red. Yes it's a vauxhall, But it is awesome, Especially if/when it has been mapped, it's a beast. Although I miss the rare-ity of the Abarth, The VXR is practically better in every way!

I can't comment as not driven any of the above. Swifts are good though, mate has one and just seems to go wherever he points it and no problems yet. Thanks for the comments though haha, actually made me think twice about buying a mk4, although the anniversary's look great IMO.

Either way, none of this matter now as they've gone for the tjet haha.

Urbex, make sure you get some pics up when you get it :)

Since this thread has served its purpose and the op is sorted, there is nothing stopping it turning into a good old m-jet vs t-jet argument. I'm going to help this along by saying m-jets are dirty smelly things with gearboxes made of chocolate and that from a standing start a t-jet will have reached the horizon before the m-jet has finished bogging down in 1st.
