My grande 2007 1.2 water level always settles at 3cm from bottom of expansion bottle, I have topped it up several times and after about 2 weeks its back down below MIN
The car runs at normal temp and the water level settles at this below MIN permanently and goes no lower
Is this a common fault with this model and can any help
Thanks

Thanks for your reply
If it was a leak would the water level not continue to go down, the water settles at below MIN and never goes any lower
I was thinking of higher pressure when topped up to correct level and the Expansion filler bottle cap leaking

Thermostat housing possibly, mine was losing water for a long time. Gradually getting faster. To the point where it would literally fall out of the termostat housing as I was topping it up. Easy fix too.

Maybe the reason it doesn't go down any further is because the leak may be somewhere connected by a pipe on the reservoir, and once the water level drops below said pipe, no more can escape....?....

Had head gasket, thermostat, temp switch and water bottle replaced. after driving about 30 km I stopped and checked water reservoir / bottle. Found foam and bubbling in water reservoir / bottle, can see a little water has leaked out water reservoir / bottle cap. Any suggestions as to what the cause could be ?

Water level in water reservoir / bottle is on (min) mark. After arriving home I open bonnet and listen next to water reservoir / bottle cap, you will hear a hissing noise every now and then. After replacement of (head gasket, thermostat, temp switch and water bottle) the temp gauge is between 1/4 and 1/2 when driving or idling in traffic.

My old Renault Megane did the same.
I could top it up, and a day later, it was right at the bottom of the expansion bottle.
It would never drop below this point.
I never did get to the bottom of it, even after 10 years.
