Technical Fuel warning light flashes

2006 Grande Punto Petrol
Turned on the ignition this morning and instead of the dials jumping into action as they usually do, they all stayed flat and the low fuel warning light was flashing.
Power steering warning light (and all the others) were in red despite being operational.

Later I turned it back on again and everything worked fine.
Is this just a blip or is it something that I need to get looked at (don't talk to me about the power steering "episodes" that I ignored last winter)?
Or is it something that I could fix myself?
