Hi guys, when in 5th and 6th gear, the car is making a whirring sound, not too loud but it stops when the clutch goes in so I assume its the gearbox. Is it the bearings going? That's expensive right? Thanks

Oh dear. This is how mine started out. Take your car to the garage immediately and get it looked at. I have just had my gearbox refurbished and had the clutch n flywheel replaced as well so total cost inc labour n vat. £1763

Your clutch can also cause your gearbox to fail prematurely if your clutch is in need of replacing as it causes unnatural vibrations apparently.

Whys there no decent clutches for mjet

been to an experienced private mechanic today. Apparently the bearings are going on the part that holds 5th and 6th in the box. Was quoted £600 all in. Been to Stoneacre today to see if they can cover it under the warranty; £3600 for a new gearbox!! And the warranty will only cover £1000. One; I trust the mechanic more..it seems that the dealer just listened to the noise and want to sell me a new box. Two; £3600 seems ridiculous!! Is this an average price?!

Nope i got gearbox clutch flywheel fitted for 1400 with oil and filter change

Guys does this start off just in 6th to start off with?
