since becoming employed from being a student, im now looking at adding pro race 1.2's and eibach sportlines, the problem i have is i dont no if my 1.2 can handle it, im wondering what is the best way to play this, i no buy a new car ive seen that before :p but i have just had my ice installed which wasnt cheap, so with the extra weight of a double sub woofer (i no chavy but sounds awesome)

just wondering if its a good idea and if i did it who would be the best insurers, aviva is the cheapest atm but they dont have any option to declare aftermarket alloys or lowering ??

please help kind of clueless atm.

Hi mate,
I have a 1.2 active and my wolfrace pro lite 17" alloys only add an extra 3kg per wheel so no problems there. Often adding bigger wheels increases weight dramatically therefore putting more stress on gearbox etc but I don't think a total of 12kg will make much difference! I've had no problems, let's put it that way (y) And lowering it, 90% of people on here have lowered there car, and a good deal of them on eibach sportlines. Whether it's a 1.2 or not. I'm hopefully going to be fitting sportlines on my car soon also :)
Adrian Flux are good insurers for modifications but there premiums can be quite high in the first place. All I can suggest, as everyone differs, phone around and find the best quote you can get :) hope this helps

hey thanks for the reply :) yeh sounds like im going to be going for them both then :) just wondering how much extra weight the pro race 1.2s are over the standard steelies and whats best for the car getting the eibachs on first and then the alloys or both toghether lol ????????

I can't tell you exactly but I know the pro race 1.2's are pretty light too, so I reckon only about 15kg over the whole car. Will make no difference mate, but I can say when you get some 17 alloys on it, you'll realise how much the car needs lowering haha! Can't have 17's and low profile tyres without it being lowered!
