I started my car the other day, it started fine first time as usual but my phone rang so before I set off I took a very quick phone call, during the phone call I noticed the car was shuddering lightly, not as much as when the engine is about to stall but the car was noticeably shaking, this was at about 1200rpm as the engine had just started. If I hadn't been in a bit of a rush I would've waited till it had gone to complete idle (around 900rpm).

Car has never done this before, does it sound like something that might be need to be checked?

Mine did this when I plugged the tom tom in. It fused. It ran rough reving. I turned it off tried to restart and thr battery was dead. I got it bump started then continued my 120 mile round trip. Next day it was rattling/squeeling with a failing alternator.

The reving is the car trying to put more power into the battery. Get either checked.

Battery and Alternator were both replaced about 2 months ago so I hope it isn't that!
The car has always revved higher when it has just started but never started juddering. Tomorrow morning I will start it and leave it to idle completely to see if it does it again.

My car doesn't have any of the symptoms outlined by the ICV guide, it does idle and the revs don't move around a lot. I checked again this morning and it started, idled at 1200rpm solid and the car was shuddering very slightly again, revs were completely steady on 1200rpm. After about ~4min the revs dropped to 800 - 900rpm and the juddering stopped?

What is a 'relearn' can you explain what this will achieve?

Thanks :)

did you read the links i posted

ok, i'm a european master technician and i can assure you this is a valid procedure for many electronic throttle bodies (the other is a reset by fiats examiner system) .......there are 2 potentiometers in the housing connected to the butterfly flap and its the signals from these potentiometes that tell the ecu where the flap is position wise. If there is a signal issue/error, dirt in throttle body or a new throttle body has been fitted the relearn procedure must be carried out....shall i continue?

Hey pal.

Wondering did you ever sort this problem out? I am having a similar ISH issue and just wondering how you got on?

At least we know now how it went, altough after seven years, thanks for that Didge3 and congrats for your fidelity on the forum !!

Cheers, Bernie.

No such thing in Grande Punto. It is a fuel vapors (EVAP) system solenoid valve (eBay seller is clueless).
Idle air is set by partially open throttle, that's all. The rest is done in the software, ECU.
