Hello people, my name's Daniel and I have been using the forum without posting much about my car. I have had my T-Jet 4 months now and I am now planning on changing the colour of my car using a product called PlastiDip.

The product is amazing, I managed to order a custom colour to my specification and if I don't like it I can just peel it off!! (y)

I am going to do it later this week hopefully so I'll post some before and after pictures, in the meantime I am setting up my own little spray booth so no dust contaminates my car!

I will keep you guys updated. :slayer:

Its already on Apex lowering springs, 35mm. I really want to lower it more but I live in London and there is no such thing as a road without speedbumps, my previous car was lowered 50mm and the plastic underneath hit everything. Thanks for the tip though!!

what colour you going? the new 'blaze blue' or 'blaze orange' would look mental on a punto!

Well I guess you read my mind haha, Im going for a special blue but it's going to be matte. The wonderful thing about plastidip is if I don't like the matte effect, I can just spray a coat of gloss over it!

I've had a play around in photoshop, and I am hoping it turns out to look a bit like this...

That blue is perfect! Love it! Now just get rid of the stripes, lower it, Get a decent set of wheels.. And you have a winner ;)

I would happily take your wheels of your hands for a small fee ;)
Cant wait to see the end result dude, not many Yellow tjets about though.
Does plastidip come in rattlecans or are you doing it with an airbrush?

Because I ordered a custom colour, it comes in a five litre can which I need to mix with thinners. I am going to spray it out of an airless spray gun

How much will it cost you mate? Btw this yellow is yummy :yum:

Five litres cost me £80+vat and the thinners £65+vat, I think it came out to about £170 to respray the whole car (y)

Keep the yellow because you wont get anywhere near as good of finish as whats on now. A proper professional respray isn't just about the spraying, its about the preparation, using quality paints and sanding. Thats why they are £1200 upwards, because you know it will look the dogs danglies when its done.

Just my 2p :)

Firstly the finish is matte, so you have tolerances in they way you spray it. Also I've been using this stuff for a while now and the finish is really good. I would never compare Plastidip to a complete respray because obviously this is a temporary colour change. Compare this product to a vehicle wrap and the price difference is huge, you'll also be surprised at how easy this is to apply! There is very little preparation to be done because it's peel able, so you just peel it off where you don't want it. Have a search on youtube and look for plastidipping a car and you'll be surprised.

Be interested in the results. My Linea grill has a few battle scars and I am considering using the matt black to smarten it up.

Those of you doubting plastidip it really is amazing! Doesn't go on like any other paint ive seen. If your surface is fairly clean and your pretty good at spraying you are guaranteed a beautiful finish! Plus it sticks to anything! A perfect product if you ask me!
