Styling Car colour change with PlastiDip

Thanks for the comments guys (y) I had mixed feelings about the colour but I think when it gets done properly it will look pretty good!

Still waiting for a reply from Plastidip, I've already phoned them up twice asking what's going on. They said they are waiting for a reply from America because that is where the product is imported from.

I used an airless spray gun (y)

ill look forward to it. i did a bit of research on this plasti dip stuff, found out its supost to be rather durable so thought I'd give it ago. (black) I took my vinyl off the wing mirrors and took my grill out and decided to give them some coats of plasti dip. I got to say I am impressed. it leaves a lovely finish and its so easy to use! :) ill get pics up lateR :)

Yes similar, I use an Earlex one which is 450w not 45w, and my one has the motor on the floor with a hose instead of the motor on top of the gun. When doing a whole car it can get quite heavy. But if you're doing just a roof or bonnet etc then it should be adequate for the job.

What would be the clear advantage of using a 450w as opposed to a 45w version? Better flow rate?

Tom

That is only good for painting a fence not a car, you need a proper spray gun with a compressor

Thats similar to what OP used but he used one with a external resiviour and pump.
Alot of people on VW/Bmw/Audi forums and loads of other forums use the Wagner W550 ([ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagner-W550-Hvlp-Spray-System/dp/B000Y8T338/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343375798&sr=8-1"]Wagner W550 Hvlp Fine Spray System: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41hDjLa8m0L.@@AMEPARAM@@41hDjLa8m0L[/ame])
with good results!
This isnt like a normal car paint btw, its a coating.
