I know many brake pads squeak due to the material used but the squealing of my brakes has gotten worse over the past two weeks to the point where its loud and annoying and occurs almost every time I brake no matter how heavy or how light. I know a lot of brake pads (if not all of them) are fitted with a bit that squeals when the pads are near the end of their life. However I don't know if my squeal is normal or they need replacing?
Is there a simple way I can check? I wouldn't know how to replace brake pads my knowledge of car mechanics probably stops at replacing a tyre.
The squealing is generally louder and higher pitched under light braking, however if I really slam on my brakes its a deeper and quieter squeal. If that means anything....
Thanks
