Hi All,

Just ordering parts to fit the BMC.

I had planned everything I need to buy as follows:
@eklipze hope you dont mind me using this

BMC_setup.jpg

then i saw this pipe (hope you dont mind me using this Andy):

Breather pipe.JPG

im guessing that isnt the breather pipe, so how do i add this in to the setup, whatever it is?

any replies are appreciated!!

okay cheers!

there is definately one round the back.

Either way, the diagram drawn by eklizpe only shows room for one pipe hence why im now confused...do i need to accomodate it :( hmm

god sake, reading eklipze's advice (thanks a lot for it im not criticising it, just confused about it lol) he suggested I use this t-piece for the breather:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Polished-...main_3&var=&hash=item7dbd9ed9af#ht_1092wt_905

but the smallest spout diameter is 25mm, which would surely make that the big pipe pictured above?

in which case, this means the small pipe at the back still needs to be accomodated for!

help :(

The small pipe is the one my finger is on.

On that GSR I would say the small pipe went on the thing on the right hand side of the pic?

(No idea about names of things on cars lol.)

yes which is what I thought! but then, looking at the t-piece frazer suggested here:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?type=4&campid=5335817148&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FPolished-Alloy-T-Piece-TPiece-BOV-Dump-Valve-Adapter-Aluminium-Silicone-Hose-%2F330667339255%3Fpt%3DLH_DefaultDomain_3%26var%3D%26hash%3Ditem7dbd9ed9af%23ht_1092wt_905

the smallest outlet is 25mm, which is much bigger than the little pipe!!! :(

so still, what the f*** is that big pipe and is it neccesary in the air setup.

im guessing not as its not part of the gsr

If it was a vacuum pipe then a plug would have worked, but it's not so it needs to go back into the induction system somehow. You could do with measuring the outer diameter of the crankcase breather (the big one on top) to make sure it is 25mm (it looks like it) but you don't want to order anything that you don't need and end up having this take ages to get set up 'cos you gotta keep ordering new bits.

In response to your PM (I hope you don't mind as it might help anyone else doing this) assuming that the spout does need to be 25mm, then you should only need the one alloy t-piece (which will need to be 70mm to fit between the 2 bits of silicon). Rather than adding another expensive bit of alloy, I'd use a small plastic t-piece. It's difficult to visualise, I've adjusted the picture, I hope it makes sense

Honestly, I've no idea what the GSR kit does with the smaller pipe, hence why I asked the question earlier ;) The plastic t-piece would go between the alloy t's spout and the crankcase breather, with another smaller pipe going to the inlet manifold breather.

Actually, thinking about it, the whole point of the crankcase breather is to return any excess oil to the engine via the air intake, which goes into the inlet manifold anyway, so I can't see the point of the inlet manifold breather. The fact that it's there makes me want to connect it to something, but I don't actually think it would cause problems if it was plugged.

Can anyone confirm the setup above?

Also eklipze am i right in thinking:

Cold air intake = 70mm
45 - degree elbow = 70mm
First alloy t-piece = 70mm, Outlet = [size of plastic t -piece]
Plastic t -piece = [size of first t-piece outlet], outlet = [size of inlet manifold breather]
90 degree elbow = 70mm to 60mm
