I have a grande punto 1.2 active 06 reg. When I lock the doors the rear door isn't locking and remaining open, even when using the key it still isn't locking,

Any ideas how I could fix this myself before I have to some how take it to the garage?

Thanks :)

Chassis to door cable come loose? (I had this problem).

Does it lock with the key in the manual lock on the edge?

It doesn't have a manual lock of the outside as its the rear passenger side door.

Thank you for your help!

I've taken it back to the garage and I've had to have a whole new central locking system.

EEEK!

Just for the back door? Why on earth replace the whole system for that?

What did they tell you the problem was?

well my rear passenger door wont lock aswell with d remote or key, not taken it to the garage yet, but am sure they def wont need to change d whole 4 doors.

I wonder if anyone has tried taking the door linings off and having a look at the mechanisms themselves?

How would i be doing that, i you tell me i can do it myself, i now more about engine than body of a car, lol but i cant have a go.

Just found this old thread, having the same issue where the rear passenger door isn't locking when all others do.
Is this likely to be the central locking motor? one currently on ebay for £20.

I assume there is no way to manually lock the door?

So I've changed the CL motor on the rear door and still not locking  I assume it's a fault with the wiring

Any help on how best to diagnose would be much appreciated, really concerned that I can't make the car secure

got to go right now but will post Something in the early afternoon, stay tuned …

As promised, here are some readings on the door locking system…

I would first check if the proper signal is comming from the body computer @ door connector level. This will tell where the fault is located, door or vehicle loom ...

Cheers :) I'll take a look (y)

Looks like Fiat provided a turnaround so you can lock the rear door(s) in case of failure.
Don't ask for English version, I only found the Workshop manual in Italian (which I can understand ;-). Unfortunately .pdf 's doesn't allow cuting selection so you'd have to retype the text in google translate …

Be extremely carefull NOT to use this trick together with the baby-safe feature, your door would become UN-OPENABLE !!

Excellent :worship:

Google translate worked a charm ! :)

Make sure child lock is NOT on  use ignition key to turn from position 2 to position 1 and close the door, can then only be opened from the inside :)

Will be glad to know that the car is locked and secure :D

Didn't know this lock was there,so went out side to try it,open door, lift (not turn)small toggle and it works on my 5dr.IMG_7142.JPG

I have the same problem and it fixes like you say. But I'd like the lock to work properly. So what is the possible reason for that fault?

Thank you very much! I was struggling with the door today and I couldn't find the issue until dark. These photos gave me an insight into the wires so I believe I'll solve it much easier tomorrow.
