Anyone had anything similar and a rough price im looking at here? had a quote from a mate to do it on the side at £150-200..

In all serious, you might be better off checking ebay as there are many cheap bumpers on there nowadays! You might even find one in your colour.

I repaired a bumper scuff on my previous car that was worse than that. Despite never having done it before and the paint being metallic, the repair was all but invisible.

I used plastic filler and wet and dry paper to fill the scratches and smooth it off. Then several layers of filler primer cutting each back followed by 4 or 5 layers of top coat cut back with fine wet and dry then a rubbing compound. Finally several coats of lacker were cut back with 2000 grit, rubbing compound and polish.

I spent about 20 quid on all the stuff from halfords and was lucky that the colour match from the spray can was excellent.

If your mate will respray the whole bumper that's not a bad price. If not, you could do it yourself like James suggested, that's what I'd be tempted to do.
