Hi,

Have 2006 grande punto dualogic 1.4. Car stuck in neutral and won't start. Can't change gear and doesn't turn over either.

I have checked all fuses and tried jump starting but still doesn't even try to turn over or change gear. No warning lights appearing either.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Are there any warning messages on the display when you try to start. Does the dualogic pump start when you first open the drivers door. Are there any warning chimes or warning icons up on your display when you turn on the ignition???

Hi Thanks,

Yes dualogic pump starts when opening door and no warning messages appeared on display. Is getting carted off to Fiat garage now as local garage don't know what to do. (unfortunately that is 500km away!) Sounds like something went wrong with the gearbox and the computer now prevents the car from starting.

Will post reply once I find out what actually went wrong. Hopefully it is a simple computer type reset or similar and not a major with the gearbox.

Summary report...
After sending to FIAT repairer, they couldn't diagnose problem and other FIAT repairers had never heard of similar issue. First tried new ECU, worked for a while then seized, then tried new robotic arm, that didn't work with old ECU so ended up needing both new ECU computer and robotic arm. Second hand parts alone cost $2,400, plus all labour and transport and close to $4,000 which is a lot when car only cost $10,000 5 months ago. Seems to work fine now but I certainly wouldn't buy a Dualogic again.

This is a real horror story. What the devil would all this have cost you if all new parts were fitted? I know this level of problems are not common but It must make you wonder what car you could have bought with $14,000.
Good luck with the car.

Hi,

Wow I have exactly the same issue. Fiat Grande Punto 2008 1,4. Car stuck in neutral and won't start. Can't change gear and doesn't turn over. All fuses are ok. We can hot wire it so the motor is running but still it won't go into any gear. And no, it was not the brake switch.

My issue is that I live in Domincan Republic (carribean) 5 hour normal drive with a car over mountains etc. to nearest Fiat Dealer... Yeah, I was warned, but...

No other solution found for this issue? Or any other problem it can be... Please....
