Tuning How to beat a corsa vxr??

Learn to drive, not being funny, I actually mean take an advanced course or something similar.

Had an inexperience friend in a fiesta ST in front of me in my 1.2 8v Grande (only performance mods are GSR (lucky to be around 75BHP) wider wheels and lowered suspension (ST was standard) Beat me every time on the dual carriageways as you'd expect but we were off on a camping trip to Barmouth. Once we got to the Welsh mountain roads I had to keep pulling over and waiting for them to catch up.

Moral of the story is, it doesn't matter what you've got under the bonnet, experience and the ability to adapt your driving to the situation can give you the edge.

No confidence, had a right foot, just used it for the middle pedal a bit more.

We were driving in the dark and he didn't understand how to use the road and read ahead.

(plus I probably drove like a bit of a dick to prove a point but it was never dangerous as any point)

I know how everyone says, grow up, forget about it he will find a ditch, etc etc things like that. But I know how hard it is to forget lol, its a right twa*.

as for beating him, do you not have a mate that can pull up aside him in something beasty at the lights and give him a quick wink???

Im not saying drive like an idiot, but lights are just the bees knees if you have a fast car.

Tbh, everytime I have to pull up just a bit behind lights because I have yet to find somebody that doesnt feel the need to hammer it even though im not racing

Just with an abarth turbo (vl36) and a remap you should see 160+ bhp, they are a good upgrade, you will notice the difference, with boost holding for longer in the revs etc.

Seen someone mention that turbo before. Either am looking in the wrong place or their rare as hell but I can't find one anywhere?? Any ideas

tried this?

See what your sayin bout spending a lot of money and yea truth be told I never expected to have to spend that much. D light did I see on one of your posts you had a abarth turbo? Where do you look cause my general google and eBay search come back with nothing :( thanks for the list on the exhaust etc too :)

I got mine off eBay for £250 mate, 2000 miles on it. IHI VL36 turbo, eBay is the best place to find them, although you could also ring round some scrapyards although it's unlikely (not that many abarths, so not many wrecked ones).
Or you could try www.abarthisti.co.uk/classifieds

My car has: VL36 Turbo, Forge Intercooler, GSR Induction, 2.5" Catback exhaust, De-cat, Forge Actuator. Remapped and running 180bhp. Check my members motors thread (link in my sig) for more info :)

Against standard ones course you will ? They are not that quick.

I'll have to find one at Santa Pod, I'll get a video if I do. My money would be on the VXR though. I've always liked them, to be honest I would have bought one instead of my T-Jet if insurance would allow it.

Yeah they are great cars imo. I would of got one if i was doing less than 30k a year but didnt fancy using that in ultimate.

Thanks for this :) will get shopping and update when one lands itself under my bonnet ;) will look forward to that vid @ Santa pod if it happens!!

All you have to do is be fast enough to surprise him that you're still close to him then he won't be paying attention and will land in the cows back garden :)

Besides the moment he goes for a remap or larger turbo sooner or later his engine will be ****ting pistons :ROFLMAO:

However, the owner of quite possibly the fastest VXR in the UK happens to live 5 mins from me and his churns out 360bhp - forged pistons, larger turbo, turbo timer, larger injectors, intercooler, LSD, decat milltek straight through, porsche brakes, remap and probably a few other things amounting to about 8k is what he has done to his.

I think I saw that at The Fast Show last year, he had his power graph sellotaped to the underside of his bonnet lol.
