SO started my gp this morning to go to work and was fine. drove five miles then stopped for petrol. when starting the car again to leave it wouldnt start, all the dash lit up but the steering wheel light and the light with a car next to a padlock was on. the it was telling me all the checks its doing then said look in the hand book...... and the starter motor sounded like it was clicking. anyway managed to bump start it and went straight to my local mechanic. but of course it worked fine. He thinks a bit of snow may have got some where it shouldnt.
Any ideas or anyone had the same problem.

Cheers(y)

My first starting point would be to get the battery and charging system checked

both the symptoms you discribed could very well be "voltage" related the cold weather and a weak battery will highlight this problem (during cranking the load on the battery leads to a voltage drop leading the cars computer system to get a little "upset"

Mine did this exact same thing, I read up on it in the handbook and it was my key fob, it had lost its coding resulting in me having to use the spare! Fiat wanted 60 for the program to recode the fob and couldn't guarantee it would work!!

Mine is doing the same thing as the OP and the needles on my dials are flickering. All the elctrics start but the engine wont. Had the car checked the other day and he said the battery was fine and everything was connected right? I am at a loss

Sounds just like mine. The cable had snapped but was still in its sleeve so looked like it was fine. Was only when he put his hand in there it came out.
What was happening was some times it was making a connection and starting and then it wasn't.

Where abouts are you?
