Hi,
I'm new to fiat forum so sorry if i've done anything wrong but i have recently got a fiat grande punto. it is my first car and i would like to do it up a little bit. being young i can only afford a 1.2 so it is pretty basic so far.
so far i have put a badgeless grill on it, vinyl wrapped the front bumper behind the number plate with carbon fibre looking vinyl and have removed the 'punto' on the back.
id like to put some 17" alloys on it and tint the windows a bit. any ideas on what else i can do? id love some advice from you guys on what i could do to smarten up my car! please bare in mind money is an issue so dont suggest a £500 coilover kit (as much as id like that). just things which you think would help, without spending too much!
im thinking replace the blue rear badge with the newer red one.

thanks for reading guys and id love to hear your opinions! :)

Hi Mate,

First things, welcome to the forum!! very nice car you have there ;)

Good job with the vinyl behind the plate too!

And 'only a 1.2' - its a nice car mate, excellent if you're young and lucky enough to own one! I've been told this many many times after saying 'its only a 1.4 8v' lol.

If you're looking for coilovers, some recommended 'cheap' ones are FK Streetlines or JOM do some.

Here is a link: http://www.madmotors.co.uk/fk-fiat-g...coilovers.html

Other mods:

Red badges (which you mentioned)
Color code door handles, if not already
Wing Mirror caps (different color if you so wish)
Tint windows (like you said, not too expensive)
Tint rear lights (Spray is £10 from ebay)
Flyeye your headlights (see my GP link on my signature)
Black roof (or other colour, usually around £80 to £150 depending where you go)
Paint your brake calipers (any colour looks good, I especially like red or yellow)

Just a few suggestions :)

With small modifications you should be okay. Lowering will possibly put it up a lot though. For example, Im with bell and to lower 30mm they wanted £295. For non standard alloys they wanted £150.

Although I do believe other companies are not as concerned, depends who you're with.

Thanks mate! :)

Yeah only a took 5 minutes, really happy with it.

Haha yeah I guess I shouldn't say 'only', I'm lucky to have such a nice car anyway! :p

Door handles and wing mirrors is something I'd definitely like to do! What colour would you recommend that would suit the grey/silver? I will also do the brake callipers the matching colour.
I've seen a few people do their roofs black and I must say it looks really good! Gonna have a search around to find the best price to get it done. Also I'm not sure about flyeye kits, gonna order some light tint spray for the rear lights tomorrow but I'll have to decide on the headlights.

Those coilovers look reasonable too for the money, will have to see how it looks when I get some proper alloys on it. Don't want it to look like it's on stilts!

Yes insurance may pose a problem for alloys but with things like painting the brake calipers, that shouldn't be too much of a concern.

Also I don't suppose you have any idea on how you remove the 'speedo surround' ?

I've seen a couple of people have carbon fibred them or sprayed them and I would like to take it off to wrap it in carbon vinyl to match the front! But I don't want to just pull it off and break something, so does anybody know how to remove it properly?
Thanks!

for the mirrors, if you get black alloys, i think they look fine as they are :)

otherwise theres nothing a good photoshop cant do.

i think those coilovers are about the best you're gonna get for the price.

Plus a few guys on here have them so at least they've been tried out by others.

You seem to be on the right track so far! :)

As for the the speedo surround, pull the steering wheel adjuster lever down, pull the steering wheel down as far as it will go. Then just under the centre bit where the dash meets the surround, there are two screws. There's also a little faux leather bit of material between the steering column and the speedo surround, give that a tug and it will pop loose, and there are two more screws there. Once all 4 screws are out, the surround will just come off.
Two of the screws are a hex/torx head so make sure you have the right tools.

If you're still confused I can take some pictures

Yeah that'd suit the black alloys. I'm currently bidding (and winning) on some sporting alloys on ebay, the fork like ones. If I get them I'm thinking of spraying them anthracite? What do you think?

Thanks! I'll have a look tomorrow, see what I can do but if I need more help I'll get back to you! Thank you

Isn't it illegal to tint the front lights? And I don't fancy de-wiper'ing the rear, where I live the car gets muddy so wouldn't be very handy
Red badges is a definite :D

Modifying is about making you're car look better in your own opinion. If you're asking what you SHOULD do, you're doing it wrong.

As much as I agree with this, when you're new to a car you may not know what to do, so it's good to ask advice of others. Just because you're asking for ideas doesn't mean you're making the car for someone else.

It happened to me several times with my car, for example 'de-puntoing' the boot. Someone else said it, and I realised: "Oh yeah, that would look good."

Yes I agree with you but I figured you guys would be able to give me some good ideas (you already have)
At no point am I intentionally going to copy anyone, I'm just going to do what I like, but at the moment, just trying to get some ideas :)
Also you guys know more than me, and what is sensible for insurance :)

Seeing as I'm not at college today I thought I'd do something else to my car. Just a small touch but it matches the front
