Hi Guys,

I Have had the engine light come on, and plugged into the computer and its the EGR. Cleared it on the computer but it has come on again. So I took the time to clean it all, however the engine light is still on, and I feel I have noticed a slight performance drop. More so on the acceleration side.

Please could you advise? Before I go down the route of buying a new EGR?

Thanks,

Adam

If the fault says egr, and after cleaning it says egr, then it's egr lol! It's obviously stuck open or partially open hence the crap acceleration. It's highly unlikely to be anything else if the only fault code is egr

Hi Adss,

Sounds like your going to have to replace your EGR mate. If you have the 1.9 mjet GP then search on eBay for this part number 55215032

It'll bring up EGR that are compatible for the GP (originally for Vauxhall) and will be much cheaper than buying a Fiat intended part.

Thanks guys for the advice and help.

I have ordered a new EGR valve from ebay.

Thanks,

Hi All, newbie here. I had EXACTLY the same problem. Power loss, smoke, engine light a few days ago. Performance got worse over the days so i decided to get a brand new EGR valve from car part supplier. Took about an hour to fit after getting to fiddly bolts.

After replacing i took car out but developed an even worse fault, car started kangorooing at low revs. Whilst i appreicate the EGR valve was bad (black sut everywhere) there appears to be an additional fault. Decided to remove the MAF sensor and the kangorooing stopped.

It might be best to remove the sensor first to see if this is the fault as diagnostics stated it was an EGR valve problem.

Although it appears to be MAF sensor as well in mine iv completely lost all turbo for some reason. Would this happen because i have removed the sensor?

Cheers

(apologies for hijacking your thread)
