Hi,

I managed to get a 5 year warranty on my GP bought late 2008.

I've kept up the yearly dealer servicing to keep the warranty going.

I've just had the gearbox selector unit (big metal lump on top of gearbox) replaced under warranty which was a relief, but the dealer said I had to pay a charge for diagnosing the fault.

So i basically had to cough up £54 for them to diagnose that oil was pissing over the top of the gearbox:bang:

Does this sound correct? What experiences has anyone else had of the 5 yr warranty?

John

The 5 year warranty is an extension of the 3rd year dealer warranty and diagnostics are NOT covered, although some dealers won't charge you if it only needs plugging in to read the fault codes, which is a 5 minute job.

It was used as a sales booster and the dealer that supplied my car (with 5 year warranty) said Fiat never gave much official advice about it so the dealers may give different advice
