I have just lost a screwdriver in the engine bay of my T-Jet, I can’t find it anywhere!

It was balanced on the engine cover near the oil input cap and rolled off towards the front. I expected it to just be lying on the splash guard but no. By peaking in the gaps between the main splashguard and the mini ones in front of the wheels I can see the whole top surface of the main splashguard and it just isn’t there I have spent an hour looking for it with a torch, shoving my phone in corners whilst videoing and driving around the block accelerating and braking like a mad thing. On two occasions after hard braking I heard it rolling back into its original position so I reversed the car onto my neighbour’s drive which is the steepest thing in the world hoping it would roll forward but still no sign of it. I’d like to find it before it either catches in something moving like a belt or falls out and punctures my rear tyre as I run over it.

Has anyone got any ideas where it might be?

P.S. I have no jack (darn Fiat skimping on the spare wheel on sportings) so without a lot of hassle (or buying a jack) I can’t take the splashguard off and have a better look.

Thanks, James

Found it! It is wedged under the radiator (all that braking) with just a tiny bit of the handle sticking out. I'll need something very long with a hooked end to get it out, either that or I try reversing then jamming the brakes on but I don't want to loose it again.

It is usually just screw drivers with me. Normally they drop out of the bottom with no harm done. I did once shut the bonnet of my 406 coupe with my sunglasses on the fusebox, CRUNCH!

Its wet and cold in bath today so extracting it will have to wait till tomorrow.

The darn car can keep the screwdriver if it wants it that bad! Lots of swearing, sweat and blood yet I just can't get it back.
