I took sent my car in for an MOT today, and it past fine. Except when I got it back there appears to be a problem with the drivers door mechanism. When I push the door closed, it doesnt stay closed, it bounces back out, as if the door isnt clipping onto the brass hook think.
My dad rang the garage and wanted to know why this was the case, and they said its notorious for it to happen in Punto....I just wanted to know how true this statement is

I'm not sure if it is possible for this to happen to the door latch on a punto as I have never looked at one closely but it is possible to trigger most boot latches so that they latch whilst the boot is open. If you then attempt to shut the boot the closed latch will bounce off the striker.

It may be that during the mot the door latch was triggered with the door open and hence it will not shut now. The cure is to use a screw driver inserted into the closed latch in place of the striker to apply some pressure whilst operating the door handle. With any luck this will open the latch and the door should shut as normal.

I think the common problems with punto door latches usually relate to the release mechanism breaking and the door jamming shut, not refusing to close.

I have told them to take it back and return it in the condition I gave it to them yesterday. if they broke it, they can fix it. haha. I aint paying them for the MOT till they fix it, and the morons have already gave me the MOT Certificate, so its there loss
