Many thanks. If there were a DPF, it would be located where the above pictured are? Ie: in the middle of the car, between both suspenions..

How do you rate the 1.9's reliability, ease of service etc?:)

Just that, an extra cat prior to the main cat to improve emissions further. It's possible yours only had that one cat for some reason, although all the ones I ever worked on had a pre and main cat.

D4nny8oy-Sorry to steal this but..Any idea why the emissions went down on the 1.9, from 1st July 2008? It went from 154g/km (2006 onward cars), to 149g/km? Thanks!

We've already explained this previously. Could be anything from a remap, change of tyres or change of oil or a combination of all of this.

Reliability id say shocking, had around 4k Of repairs for mine in first 3 years, but i must say not a dickie bird this last year, and to be honest i think i bought a lemon and been unlucky with hitting most common issues, ie gearbox turbo egr i love the car though drives great, looks great, economys great, pulls great, fairly quick for a 1.3 tonne motor,
If you dont get unlucky then its a great car i know loads of members that havent had an issue in 80k milage

Whilst I appreciate yr input, I would like to say, that I was asking D4nny8oy this question. He has worked as a Fiat technician and knows the cars far greater than u or I, that is obvious!
So please think before replying in a rude manner! I have to add that D4nny8oy, is so far, is the only one to have got ALL his facts correct..;)

And you know exactly what I do......?

You're the rude one by trying to undermine someone and play one of against the other really, intended or not.
As for insinuating I don't know what I'm on about......

I look forward to a few more responses to practically confirm what I've said ;)

Care to expand on what facts I've got wrong? Coming from someone who clearly has more of an idea that I. You can't work out if you've a DPF fitted to your car. Although I do not profess to know everything I obviously know a bit more than you, and don't forget that I have got a DPF fitted to my car, and that's a fact you probably didn't know!

I do hope that didn't one across as being rude.

Honestly couldn't say (I left the FIAT fraternity 3 years ago), but it's likely for one of the reasons MEP suggested- he's been on here longer than I have, so I wouldn't instantly dismiss anything he says. ;)

It may have been the impending Euro 5 emission regs forcing an engine re-tune (remap), more eco tyres, subtle styling tweaks for better drag reduction, the introduction of the lower-ash and reformulated Selenia WR P.E oil, or just a tweak to get it into a lower tax bracket and make it more popular with company car buyers, etc.

As for reliability, they're no better or worse than a Vauxhall or Saab with around 6 years behind them (seeing as they use the same engine)- in fact the GP 1.9 has far more in common with any other GM product than the 1.9 in the Bravo. Get the two engine's side by side and you'll see noticeable differences with external components like the turbo and oil system.

Usual complaints are:

EGR's can clog- happens with any Diesel
Turbo's can die- lifespan depends on servicing/driving habits/remap level
Gearbox's can die- again, driving style/remap has a large effect as they're already borderline on torque capability
Glowplugs can die- it's upto 7 years old!
Waterpumps can seize- should be done with the cambelt @ 4/5 years

It's a great engine, better than anything the derv-loving French can produce, which is why it's been around for so long. It's only the emission regs that's strangling it and why it was binned-off for the fresher 1.6 and 2.0 mJets.

:)

Well yeah it did!

Something like that mate :/

Lol.

Just come here to relax and help out

Next time you 'come here to relax and help out' after a 'bad day' please refrain from taking it out on others. I have not been 'rude' to you. I was just bemused as to why you were replying to a post that was clearly not posted for you. You seemed miffed that I was asking him a similar question, as to what I had previously asked. Why? It is up to a member, new or otherwise, to have the freedom to ask what they like. If you don't like it, then tough! Just ignore it and move on and don't reply.

Surely it would have been better/politer for you just ignore my post, rather than aim your days frustration at me. By your own admittance, you have bad days, as we all do! Although most of us refrain from taking it out on innocent others.

I was not playing each of you off against one another, just pointing out the fact that Danny8oy was correct in his facts. If you want to make a meal of it fine! It won't make you any happier!

There is an undercurrent on the Fiat forum, which I can only describe as bullying. There is even a posting from the moderator above all the different subjects, about the poor treatment of new visitors to the forum. This points out that obviously there been past issues of bad treatment of new visitors to the site. What right do you people have to think you own this site? You are no more important than anyone else that decides to post here, whether you've posted a million posts or not! People should all be treated equally on here!

I also notice the 'joining of forces' to undermine those that dare question the supposed authority (in your own minds), of long term posters. Comments like:' this dpf thread its getting a bit nutty though haha' are bullish and intimidating to newer members.

It's obvious that a lot of you, don't like new members joining and are mocking in their lack of knowledge Fiat cars. Well one day, if you decide to sell you Fiats and buy another brand of car, I hope you are made to feel just as inept, as you have made others feel on this website..

I await your impending rant from who ever has had a 'bad' day today...

Are you just coming on here to be combative? I know all about the 500 thread that had to be cleaned im not wasting my sunday cleaning a thread in my section..

If you have a problem with a post report it with the report button the red ! triangle rather than going off on one as it doesn't help anyone.... We as the Mod team will look into it if rules have been broken we will act on it....
