Yes, if DPF fitted would be about £20-£30 for the year, so sounds like you don't have one (y)

Superstar! Many thanks. Must say looking at Rackham115's drawing, it doesn't look like it has one, when comparing underneath the car. God I hope not!

Just one last question; I would have thought that, if my car had a DPF , would it have a warning light on the dashboard for it? If so, what does it look like?

Thanks again!

2007 possibly feb

Still battling away to see if my car has a DPF!

Warning lights: I was told by Fiat, Milan that I should look for a warning light, in the speedo gauge, that looks like an exhaust puffing smoke out. If I had that, I have a DPF. Mine does not have this warning light. Though I suspect , going on the 07/08 updated Punto brochure I have, that this was a feature later added to the car (along with new seat trim, new instruments, dark headlights and new digital display) in the summer of 2008.

The hand book for my July 2008 registered car, clearly stipulates there isn't a specific warning light for a car with DPF and instead uses the OIL PRESSURE warning light, with a message on the computer display, to let you know the oil is 'exhausted' and needs replacing. Also the generic warning triangle comes on, to say the DPF is clogged out up and you should leave the engine running until it goes out. This backs up my theory that a specific warning light was only added to the (very slightly)revised Sporting in the summer of 2008.

Rackham115: would it be possible to have a look under your car and describe what the exhaust looks like on yours? As I mentioned, mine has what only can be described as pipe coming from the engine, then a small orb metal shape, then some pipe, then the centre silencer, then more pipe to the back box. If anyone else could have a look at their 1.9 Sporting exhausts, I would appreciate that!

Many thanks.

Turbo downpipe cat

Many thanks for finding that! Is the turbo downpipe located horizontally and just before the middle silencer?

Had some Fiat mech's look at car today. Looking from above the engine bay (as they said Fiat will charge £30 to put car on ramp(n)) and he said 'he could not see the vacuum pipe, so it doesn't look like it has a DPF'. What on earth's a vacuum pipe?

Also he was looking at the front of the engine and trying to look low down at the exhaust. Didn't realise the DPF was located so close to the engine, rather than further down the exhaust pipe..

Do you have a picture of what it looks like under your car? Ie: yours doesn't have a DPF and if it matches mind..hey presto!

On a plus point, we put some Shell V Power Diesel fuel in and what a difference. Feels much smoother and quicker! Worth the extra for that..What fuel do you put in?

DPF is practically under the manifold so don't get so hung up about under car pics.

Vacuums pipe is what is used to detect pressure, and thus blockage rate in the DPF
