Hey guys:)

Im new here and looking to get a Grande Punto, preferably one with a bit of go, so im looking at a 1.9 Multijet Sporting at the moment. Only thing is that this one im looking at seems a bit different to all other Punto's ive seen. Heres a pic:

So firstly the bodypart where the plate is mounted is black rather than body colour like every other one ive seen, also the badge is different but could have just been replaced (Its an abarth badge). Also, the wing mirrors are black rather than body coloured.

Are these just standard options, or would these have been modified for looks and nothing to worry about, or just replaced for some other reason? Might seem like a stupid question I know but wanna be sure!

You guys know a lot more about this sort of thing than me so any help greatly appreciated:D

As said above there is nothing to be worried about just a few changes made buy the previous owner nothing that cant be changed back easily. Personally I like it how it looks now, apart from the abarth badges.

Get some red ones from somewhere like Ebay will look much better and its not a lie:p

but all in all very nice car:)

Ah yeah I see. So its just a vinyl stick on? Gotta admit it does look better, its just not something I've seen before so wondered if it was to hide something.

I was looking at some pretty basic 1.4 Dynamic models before I noticed this one, and the insurance is only about £100 more.

The car itself is advertised for about another £1000 though.

Is it worth spending the extra for the 1.9 Sporting, or just settle for a 1.4 Dynamic and save the money?

I do like a but of oopmh so was interested in the 1.9.

What miles do you do?

I really wouldn't bother with a diesel if your not doing many miles.

They say less than 12k and you should stay with petrol.

I do about 50 miles a day, mostly motorway so id imagine it would suit me better.

What about in terms of reliability though vs the petrol blocks?

generally a diesel will out last a petrol engine due to the fact diesels do rev up as far as a petrol engine but as with any car its all down to usual factors with drivers being the main part with services and taking care of the engine and giving it what it needs and when it needs it

Fair enough.

Reliability they are pretty good. Turbo's arnt the best on them but in my opinion if you let them warm up properly and cool down they will survive fine.

I have done 25k+ since February including track days this year and mine is remapped. Always looked after and serviced well and it has been fine. Standard turbo is doing fine.

Its down to how they are looked after at the end of the day.

It's up at a dealer for £4995, 35K.

Good deal or a bit of haggling left in the price?

Ok cool,

At that age I guess its due a cambelt change? Should I make sure thats been done?
