Hi,

I’ve got a 57 plate GP and I’ve just had the top strut bearings replaced.

Can anyone tell me if the wiper arms need removing when undertaking this repair?

Reason being that the other night driving home in the rain, I noticed that the off-side wiper blade was making a slapping sound, on closer inspection I noticed that the wiper blade was running into the pillar.

I took the car back to the garage that did the work and they assured me that that it wasn’t necessary to remove the wiper arms. He even demonstrated on another car that was in for repair at the time (hasten to add the car he demonstrated on was a Rover) the procedure for removing the top strut bearings.

Is there anything I can do the remedy this?

And can anyone recommend a good garage in the Huddersfield area, that knows fiats?

Regards
TPM

It's possible to do without removing the wipers, but very difficult/fiddly and you got to bend the plastic cover up. I would hope a garage would just take them off.

It's simple to re-align them, just undo the bolt and pull the wiper off, may need to use a puller tool if it's stiff.

Hi Tom JL,

Thanks for the reply, shortly after posting I thought I'd have another look, and I have to agree that it would be very difficult to undertake such a process without removing the wiper arm and plastic cover.

I'll have a look at rectifying the wayward wiper arm.

Once agin thanks
