hi people, i have some problems with my GP. Can someone help me please.

Problem 1: When i lower the gear, the car judders for approx 2 seconds. This only happen when i lower the gear when the RPM are more than 1000. When lowering gear with revs below 1000rmp its ok. Is it a clutch problem?

Problem 2: Yesterday while reversing in neutral gear, the steering wheel got very stiff that i had to use both hands to turn it. I turned the car off and on again and it was ok. What causes this to happen? can this happen to me while i am driving with high speed? (hope this wont happen to me cause i can end up in serious trouble :bang: )

Thanks in advance guys and sorry for my broken english ;P

1. I would suggest bad clutch control maybe, or your changing down through the gears with to high revs while slowing down. Use your brakes more they are cheaper to replace!

2. No idea, I would assume power steering pump went a bit crazy and stopped working, did you turn the wheel round to much? If it went at high speeds you would be fine, its lower speeds where it is going to be nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel in the even of a power steering failure.

Hey there,

2. It sounds as if youve got a similar problem as someone I know, The Powersteering pump is connected by a block connector to the cars electrical system which, being italien, doesnt like water. The pins can sometimes get slightly corroded and may just need a clean.
I would suggest finding the connector and using an industrial solvent such as "Amberklene" to remove the "rust" ( hate that word ) and ensure a decent connection.

Hope this helps
Tom

Thanks for your replies :)

@ ysidfa

Can you please tell me where i can find this block connector?? is it in the dashboard or in the engine bay ??

I would guess its in the engine bay as its to do with the steering, try getting it up on a ramp or axel stands and having a decent look undernieth, bearing in mind that the jack that comes with your car isnt safe to use if your under the car.

Cheers
Tom
