Hi
I hope someone out there can shed some light on my 09 GP 1.4 petrol problems.
I just went to start it this morning...everything ok until the engine starts, and this is the order of events..
Starts and runs fine....radio on ..power steering working.
Then....
The dreaded bleep...radio turns off, and the warnings lights and messages on the dash start to appear.
EDB failure
Power steering failure....then the steering feels like concrete
ABS unavailable
Airbag failure
Engine still runs fine..This car has only just been in to have the software updated for the flashing odometer, and the indicators turning on after self cancel, so i do know if its just coincidence or not.

Can anybody offer any advice, or has anyone had a similar experience.
Typical it happens on a Saturday when all the dealers are shut (n)
Cheers

Hi
I wish it was that simple mate...Battery is fine, spins car up no problems at all.
Most annoying......:bang:

Hi
Already tried disconnecting the battery ... Still same
problem .. I know it's going to have to visit the dealer
just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem
and how it was sorted
Cheers

might still be a faulty battery even though it starts the car
i had exactly the same thing with a punto last night
the car started properly but the steering wheel of death came on
i went to work this morning with my shiny new smouldering iron to give it some but after putting on a starter pack the lights gone and the steerings perfect
motto is its a fiat and they are very battery dependant

All Modern Cars are getting very very Battery dependant
New-ish BMW/Audi/mercs/ etc With all this electro gizmo saps the battery loads

In winter this why alot more faults appear on cars - as the battery is just cold and cant provide enough = Fault - Insuffient power

My mums car has its battery Inside the car under the passenger - Cause it stays warmer - its never been a problem once in winter

However my dads car - battery in bonnet area
Cold Hits and all my dads electric devices all say malfuntion - reset once battery has had a quick boost - All fine and dandy!

The plot thickens on this ....
I went to start the car today to move it so i could give the battery a boost on the charger.....Totally dead ...and i mean totally...cant open door on remote, not even a faint light on the interior bulb all dash dead etc etc, no power on turn of key..
Anyway whipped the battery off to charge, and the needle on the charger went off the scale....I've never seen a battery so flat in my life...Something has drained that overnight...just baffling...
Hopefully the charger can resurrect it, and fingers grossed it may solve the problem, but i aren't holding my breath

Also just noticed i should have posted this in the Grande Punto section...can any of the mods move it ??
Cheers

your right - your in the Punto Section, Not the GP (grande Punto)
I'll hit the report button for you - a mod should be able to move it for you then :)

if the Car has a dead batter already at an 09 plate, it should be under-warrenty still with fiat
Be getting them to pay for replacement, but why it was draining tho is another problem
something silly like a relay is stuck on for like the AC Clutch or the boot light switch is leaving the boot light on all the time = Drain
