Has anyone any experience with the sound proofing/ cowling catching fire in the negine bay of a grande punto? All suugestions welcomed as this happened to our car last week.

Has it had a service done recently? Any work in the engine bay?

The material isnt going to catch fire on its own, things need to be checked to see if they are still in place i.e battery covers because i would assume it had been caused either by something coming loose and falling onto the exhaust/turbo or an electrical fault

I regularly break the sound barrier with my GP.

Agree with GymJunkie though, sounds electrical.

That engine your car hsve fitted? There isn't much on the 1.2 or 1.4 in that area

hope there isn't too much damage

If it Is one of the above only guess I can make is either electrical or the breather hose has been split a long time leaking oil onto the sound proofing and made its way onto the exhaust
