so 4ths totally gone, selectors fooked cogs smashed blah blah, do I seriously have to give £1700 +vat and my gearbox to fiat for a recon, noooo labour???????

is there any other options, is ther people that fix your box, or is ther a vauxhall box that would be cheaper, please help, i really dont have £2000+ to spend just to sell the car

dont go to fiat! normally these gearbox's are around £900 to have reconditioned, google gearbox specialists in your area

from searching on here, your like the 4th mjet that the gearbox has gone after warranty has expired. and guess what, mines on its way out too, loads of play in 1st gear, gearknob moves all over the place, gearbox whines in 2nd gear , and 5th and 6th make an awful grinding noise constantly. took mine to local fiat dealer today, tech guy came out for a test drive, he thinks its the differential on its way out, thinks ive caught it just in time before it decides to let loose and blow gearbox apart. booked in next monday, thankfully ive paid for an extended 4th year warranty thru fiat with unlimited claim amount, so all should be good hopefully! mines an 08 plate with 33k on clock, full fiat service history.

For that box reconditioned your probably talking £450-500 plus. 1st gear transmissions are top notch, get in touch with them.

Or you could pick up a M32 gearbox on ebay for pennies. They are in a tonne of cars.

M32 is whats on the Abarth T-Jet you sure thats for the 1.9MJ as well?

As said the M32 is found on a lot of the Astra VXRs and other cars in vauxhall group

EDIT: Check fleabay, plenty for £700-1300, astra or insignia 1.9CDTI

Are these 4 Mjets standard or remapped?

I see yours is running crazy BHP, have you driven it hard too? Mine's 30k and drives like new still... Drive it steady though.

hi guys thanks for the feedback, r the gearboxes u mentioned exactly the same, insignia astra are the ratios the same and the vxr especially with it being a petrol

did red dot tell u you have 195 bhp at the wheels matty, need to get on a MAHA RR, mines like 135whp losing 35 thru trans, with 250lb/ft

like others say, ther "crazy figures" are most likely not as crazy as they look, its not driven hard, as i average 50mpg, so that would be pretty hard if i had a lead foot. the main advantage i make use of with the remap is the increased fuel economy.

no red dot (well they did when i went like 2 yrs ago) give you bhp readout at the fly, torque at the wheels.

Will FIAT keep to that contract given your power/torque mods?

.

well technically its not Fiat or the fiat franchise dealership who i have a contract with, they wont be paying anything towards any potential repairs, its through a 3rd party insurance company, but its called fiat aftersales mechanical breakdown insurance. its had all its services, all warranty work done at the same dealership, they know me by first name now(including the head tech guy lol) lol, theyve repaired it alot of times now, all under warranty, and i guess, they dont mind, as they always get repeat business off me, this is my 2nd car from them.

they appear to be aware of modifications, and have not so far taken them as an excuse to not repair, as they know its well cared for, always serviced by them earlier than needed, and i change oil and filters inbetween when they do, so its serviced every 5 months ish.

but if it turns out to not be covered, then fair enough, i will understand why, but will still have them fix it anyway. this is where i differ from others with mods, i understand they do affect warranty etc so cant really complain can we?
