Technical wind-in tool(rear brakes)

I was looking at these in Halfords the other day.£30 or thereabouts ,you should find cheaper at other motor factors. I still have the one i used from the Coupe, won`t be selling it though.

Laser wind in tool... waste of ****ing money!!!!! :bang:

works for winding the rear right, but no way can you push and turn hard enough to do the rear left. not worth the £30

went to machine mart today and bought the full kit for £55, it has a reverse thread to do both sides. (y)

managed to get discs and pads for £35, so not too fussed about the extra money, but will deffo sell the laser kit on ebay.

have a look on ebay .i got a set of wind in tools ,both left and right hand thread tool and the plates for various makes ,cost abour £25 ish ..wasn't laser lol..

Just doing this at the minute, did the front ones with a g clamp no issues. Can't seem to do that with the rears though, tried using makeshift tools as well to no avail. Never come across any brakes like these before.
I'm getting confused when you're all saying wind in, does the piston not just push in?
I don't understand how you'd get different threads with the tool either.

Hope someone can help as I need to use the car :(

Okay after a bit of YouTube research I know understand it a bit more. I've tried turning the piston with long nose pliers and it turns, both ways, but neither way seems to make it come in or out, I've measured it, then done a full turn clockwise, no difference. Same with anticlockwise as well.

Are the threads different? I'm currently doing the rear passenger side

I remember doing mine but with a caliper rewind, was an absolute struggle, soooo stiff, bothe sides wind in differnt ways, have u tryed winding with a g clamp on then youll know if its loosening if g clamp falls off

I've tried putting pressure on the piston but it's hard because they're so stiff I need both hands to turn it with the pliers.

I can't use a G Clamp because that doesn't turn.

I've just read that on most cars they need to be turned clockwise, can anyone confirm this?

believe me you need the correct tool, if you just push the piston... it wont work. if you just turn the piston... it won't work!

you need a huge amount of pushing power and turn at the same time, something only a rewind tool can do, the trouble is that the laser tool only turns clockwise...

the passenger side needs an anti-clockwise thread, if you turn it the other way your in trouble!!!!!!!!!!

So what did you end up using in the end then? I suppose there's no point in me going to halfords and buying the laser tool as that would only work for the drivers side which is no use to me, especially now.

I've already learned that it doesn't work, but just to clarify, in a hypothetical situation where i was using pliers, on the passenger side I would need to turn the piston anticlockwise to wind it back in?

You need this, or a similar kit... which i just sold for about £30

and yeah...
passenger side: anti-clockwise
drivers side: clockwise

i have a laser tool which will to drivers side, but i couldn't exert enough pressure to manually turn it the other way to do the passenger side...

Right, that's cheaper than the halfords one, that was £75! Might have to stretch to £55 as long as it means I can use the car this weekend!
I'll not be selling mine though, I reckon I'll definitely need it in the future.

Yeah I'm looking as well, but I don't really want to order as I've got to assemble the passenger side brakes, then put new discs and pads on the drivers side, all before thursday. I can't trust it being delivered in time.

Also that kit looks like it has less plates, and I can just imagine it not fitting the Grande brakes
