Hi.

I have a 2006 GRANDE 1.9 SPORTING.

Got in the car this morning, and the car would not start. Got a few error messages come up including ABS unavailable and AIRBAG failure. Then the dash just started flickering and I could hear a clicking sound.

Does anyone know whats wrong?

Thanks amcand.

I was thinking this may be the case, but you know what its like. You always think its something much more serious.

The only reason I am really concerned is because we had some rain last night, and didnt want to be this which has knackered the electrics.

However on the other hand I washed and waxed the car yesterday, and had the steroe on whilst i was waxing it, so this could have drained the battery down I suppose?

Most likely the battery but mine did this after sitting in a car park all day without use then when i got in it, the same thing happened. But my alternator had died aswell.

Try a new battery first though

yep the battery ,as you say you had the radio on whilst cleaning the car ...though about 17months ago my grande battery was dead for no apparent reason ,jump start ,and it's never let me down since ,,,am still on the original factory fit battery on an 06 grande ..

Try a jump start. If it doesnt work the battery is dead and you will need a new one. If you get a new battery and it dies after a day or so again then it will most likely be the alternator.

yep agree jump start ,take it for a good drive ,then put a multimeter over the battery and check the charge rate

I got the AA out.

They tested the battery and apparantly it will will only charge to half its capacity now. It had drained down because I had the stereo on too long whilst waxing the car.

New battery time.
