Does the boot release work with the car locked? I guess someone could try this out first.

I always thought the Fiat lock system was odd; why can’t opening the boot unlock all the doors like other cars? It would only require a change to the software. The lack of an external boot release is annoying too.

In this case the stupidity does not lie with the person who locked their keys in but with Fiat for designing a system where this is possible.

As for getting in, I’d smash a small window after applying lots of tape to hold it all together. Glass is a bugger to hoover up.

Situation...In a super market putting bags in boot and some ned runs up opens the (unlocked) drivers or passengers door and grabs your bag, laptop or whatever you have inside the car before you know it. It's all down to safety and security.

Fiat cannot be held for the stupidity or accidental carelessness of some owners! The world is full of potential dangers/mishaps which is why humans were born with 'common-sense'.

NOTE from moderator - Could everyone please be careful about giving out any hints/details that could potentially put their and other peoples vehicles at risk.:)

Just call a bloody locksmith. £45 to £65 and no windows to replace.

I dont understand some of the comments on here when someone locks the keys in the car.
If you leave your keys in the house, do you blame the builder ?

As far as I am aware if you sit in the car and deadlock it, the interior handles still work. i assume this is to stop people being locked inside there cars, using the seat sensor. However, if you lift your weight off the seat then deadlock it you are trapped in the handles don't work neither do the buttons! I checked this ages ago then one day on a night out in Sheffield i dead locked my keys in the boot. The breakdown guy used the device to bend the doot and pull on the handles and press the buttons. Nothing worked. The passenger seat was folded forward though so i hoped this would trigger the seat sensor but it didnt.
Anyway as we were about to go out my ocd kicked in and i had to check my car was locked Hahaha to my suprise the drivers door opened  once inside the other handle didnt work and neither did the buttons so i had to crawl into the boot to retrieve the keys.

Saved my cousin a 2 hour drive to sheffield with the spare key haha.

Once you deadlock the car (if deadlocks are fitted, not all grande Punto's have them) then the interior handles dont work fullstop. Me and a friend deadlocked our girlfriends in my car once and they spent a god 5 mins trying to get out, interior lock button and handles both made no difference.

I only have one key for my car that I received from the dealers and this is the sort of thing that gives me sleepless nights, because I'm an idiot that will probably do this at some point in my ownership of this car.:bang:

Time to think about paying out for a new key me thinks!!

Having the boot lock separately from the doors is a great security bonus. You can open and shut the boot without having the doors unlocked. I also makes for a much simpler system which is a bonus.
No one should own a modern car with only one key, it's asking for trouble.

I keep a blade in my wallet, you'd never know it was there. If I ever lock the keys in the van while out on a job, the blade will open the door.

If anyone wants one, £10 inc p+p.
I will need a key to copy or the key code. It's sometimes possible to cut a blade from a very good photo but not ideal.
