Hello!!

Anyone using the ebc greenstuff brake pads on stock discs??

I've heard from many people that they have destroyed their discs after some time using them..

Also is there any noticeable improvement over the stock ones??

IMHO don't bother with em, there way overrated . Get some ebc ultimax, cheap, but I feel better than oem. And work fine with original discs.

Thanks!

My stock ones are still ok,but were looking for a replacement.

I suppose I'll stick with them and get the ferodo ds2500 sometime later...

I've bought the EBC Greenstuff for my front discs and the EBC standard for my rear. I'm planning on fitting them tomorrow. I will come up later next week with the results!

i've got ebc greenstuff all round on standard ebc discs and theyre great!

Greenstuff pads are heads and shoulders above standard pads and the EBC ultimax pads. Really worth the money. Ive had mine on for about 15k now i think. no squeaking, loads of pad and disc life left. Seriously wouldnt go back to standard pads.

I found the ultimax pads to fade a lot faster than OEM pads.

I have my OEM pads 57.000 klm ( about 35k). I was thinking on getting Ferodo ones but i've heard that they are to hard.

No fade on mine , then again I don't drive like a twocer so that could be why.

These ultimax are miles better than the standard pads the car came with and at the end of the day, what I have found is In my opinion, Most things in life get mixed reviews, one person can love an item, next person hate it. Best best is to try different pads out yourself.

Now I can say I am very confused.....:p

@vagos
About the ferodos (ds2500) everywhere I searched they say they perform great and no one mentions any problem, but they cost about twice the price of the greenstuffs..Imho it's a bit extreme spending 200€ on just a pair of brake pads...

I've been impressed with the standard brakes on my Tjet,

Done 26k in 2 years and still have 60% on front pads and 80% on rears left, discs are fine also,

On remapped Mjets I can understand maybe needing upgraded pads but unless you drive like a loon the stock ones perform well IMHO

I have had my green stuff pads on for just over 100 miles now and i am not impressed at all, because they are new i have been braking gentley but they feel spungy and don't seem to drip well. They also squeek constantly under any sort of braking, this is becoming very anoying now, wish i had gone with my gut feeling and put the ebc ultimax pads on.

You arent meant to drive gently on them. They have a wearing in bit on the pads which you are meant to drive normally on to wear the pads in. Have your pads got the anti squeel shims on them? Seriously, Ultimax pads never stopped squeaking for me then i put greenstuff on and they are nice and quiet :)

they are still running on the bedding in surface you wont have reached the pad yet driving like that.
did you stick the squeal pads on right?

You arent meant to drive gently on them.

I am only following the instructions on the box it says " however pads should be used gently for the first 100 miles untill optimum braking is observed"

I havn't noticed any of this optimum braking yet, the pads have got a tank of fuel to improve other wise i am going to get my money back.

Do some hard stops on them then to bed them in properly. I didnt drive like you have when i first had mine fitted and ive had no problem.

I have got nothing to loose i will give it a go and see if it improves them.
You may have done 100 miles+ but that doesn't necessarily mean they've bedded in. Everyone has a different driving style, so obviously someone who might class their braking as gentle might be a lot more harsh than yours...meaning theirs would bed in a lot quicker.

Basically, I echo what Matt's saying. I'm really glad I upgraded to the Greenstuff pads, they have plenty of stopping power, don't squeak as much and as of yet I've not experienced any fade.

Hope this helps.

Well a week on and over 400 miles done since i installed my greenstuff pads. They are know finaly starting to work but the braking in process took a long time and as mentioned in other posted you do have to thrash them to bed them in.

They still don't feel very good though, it's almost like they only work when you press on hard. You have to use them either on or off you can't feather them because it makes no differance. The worst thing about these pads is the fact that they squeez, very loudly  low speed around car parks is the worst time they draw so much attention to me, when i fitted them i did copper slip the back of the pads to try and avoid this problem but it has made no differance at all.

I have emailed the seller and told them if things don't improve in 100 miles i want my money back because these pads are a joke wish i had never brought them. Wish i had just gone for ebc ultimax pads they are over half the price and can't possibly be any worst than these green stuff pads.

copper slip on the back of the pads won't stop then squeaking... normally some squeak can't be avoided when cold (ie light braking) once applying firm pressure they should warm up and stop squeaking
