This is a long shot but has any members on here used R teck power to get there car mapped? If so what are your experiences with this company ?

I range them today and have been quoted £200 for a map and power run, this seems very reasonable to me. I just don't want to give my car to some idiot to play with, last thing i need right now is a blown turbo. Below is a link to the site.

Any other recommendations from companies around Burton Upon Trent would be greatly appreciated.

i was having a look round for places to remap my t-jet and came across r-tech, not been in touch with them or anything but i was leaning more towards getting a TMC tuning box...i know its a bit more expensive but then at least you can remove it and sell it on if you sell the car

I know what you mean, i think the tmc box for mine is only £99, but i want to do a power run before and after installing it to see what bhp improvment i get from it. The two power runs could set me back £80, i need to confurm that the tmc box is still £99 if it is that is a very reasonable price.

They are on here IIRC, Okay they were traders, dont think they are anymore though

They did seem very knowledgeble on the phone when i rang them i must say, i just don't like letting some body play with my engine when i know nothing about them or the quality of there work.

just put mine in last week, cant speak highly enough of them. aftersales help was superb too. car goes so much better through the gears etc, throttle response is tighter too. im a happy bunny:) lots of threads on here about happy tmc punters....

I just wish some body would get there car roaded after installing the box so you can see the real gains rather than just the claimed ones. If i do get one i will definatly be doing a before and after map so at least i can measure my gains.

im not trying to claim s.f.a. if you read my post again im just saying what i think of the after sales, and how the car feels. i dont see any mention of a ground breaking ***** extention 40bhp increase for only £99. i dare say if i went on a r/r and found any increase i could have that printed/laminated so i could take it in the gym shower and show off a bit.

so in summary, ive got a vanilla magic tree hanging from my rear view mirror, drilled out for racing lightness, added 1 bhp to my car and i have written proof from mr f breeze to verify this

There is no need to be a sarcastic ****, if you read my post you will find that i didn't actually ask any questions at all. All i said is i would like to get the car RR to see how much power the box gives the car. I can't see how that deserved a random, abusive and sarcastic reply.
If you got nothing better to do than come on here and be a Cu.nt then hay go for it i don't really give a fak.

.

Well done.

just wondered how you went on with the remap mate, did you get it done in the end? are you happy with it? how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking..?

EDIT: sorry just noticed you quoted £200 in your original post

I haven't been yet i have got the car booked in for next month, i will let you know how it goes. Some body i work with had his vw passat remapped there that got that up to 176 bhp from 130 standard.
Before i get all this extra power i am changing my brakes, after 40k miles my disks are looking sorry for them selfs.

ah fair enough, have you gotta book quite a while in advance? i might give them a bell tomorrow and try get a quote for mine

The only reason i booked it for next month is that it gives me time to change my brakes, and give the car a service before it goes in. I bet you could get in earlyer if you wanted to. I wonder how much it is going to put my insurance up.

Well i thought i would update this thread as i now have finaly had the car mapped at R tech hinckley.

I am very happy with the map they wrote for me, on the first power run the car was running 138 bhp and 208 foot pound torque. After they had finished with it, it is now running 166 bhp and 298 foot pound of torque.
The torque increase is very noticeable it will now spin the front wheels in the dry in second and third gear, the power surge is very satisfying.

Once i settle down and stop driving it like a twit i will be interested to see if i get any fuel economy increases.
