Has anyone had problems with repeated failures of these?
I am expecting to have to replace my nsr again, the last replacement lasted only 8-9 months and Fiat replaced it free of charge as a faulty part.
I just wondered if there had been a dodgy batch about or any other likely causes.
Never had any impact on wheel or hub and can't think why they seem to keep failing.
Will likely have to dig out paperwork and speak to Fiat again but just thought I would ask before I contact them.
This will be the third replacement since new - Sept. 06 at 40K:confused:

I don’t recall hearing about repeated failure of the rear wheel bearings.

I have had both of mine replaced, one at around 15 k and the other at 22k, both have been fine since. I believe it is water ingress that causes the damage. Bit poor that they are only lasting 8-9 months, and your not doing mega high mileage aswell.

I would think that any part would come with a 1 year warranty, speak to fiat and see what the say.

On my old mk5 escort i had the same wheel bearing replaced 3 times in the period of just over a year, first one lasted about 6 months, the next one lasted 1 week!! then the 3rd lasted for the few months before i sold the car.

Ive had one bearing replaced on my punto so far in 30k

I'm having one replaced soon too. horrible droning noise that goes when i turn left. spoke to a mechanic and he reckons the rear axel isn't set up properly on many GP's which causes the bearing to go. Not sure if this is true, but he has been in the business for a longgggg time

Fiat parts actually come with a two year warranty, if paid for by customer. i.e. out of warranty, any parts fitted under warranty ( paid for by Fiat ) only cover remainder of vehicle warranty.

i've had 2 replaced, 4k miles later another gone!!!!! car has 62k.... I'd say its bad design or bad quality parts being used

Both my rears failed within a couple of days of each other, cost a fortune to replace for bearings...

And now ones gone again, so im expecting the other to go soon enough. Mine seem to last 30k. Which I think is Bullsh*t for a new car.

I have the same issue

Bought the car in October (14,500 miles)
Had a bearing replaced back then
Taking it back in Monday with (i suspect) another Bearing on its way out.
Currently on 19,434 miles ish.

I cant believe that they are happy for them to just keep replacing a part like a bearing that goes SO early in a cars life.

There are loads of logs about these failing on the GP's

Must be a fault somewhere .... So why are they not doing anything to prevent the repeated failure of these parts ?

Well Picked the Car up from the Garage last night after work and sure enough it was the Rear Bearing.
Had the O/S/R Bearing replaced back in October, and just 5000 miles later (all of which were driven with care) the N/S/R Bearing needs replacing.

I myself am lucky enough to be covered by a Warranty, (y) and a garage good enough to keep taking back in to do the warranty work, but i do know that there are many people out there not fortunate enough to be covered for the cost of repairs.

Does anyone actually know WHY the failure of Rear Bearings is SO common in the GP's ?????
