I got an engine warning light a couple of weeks ago and bought a diagnostic kit. When I ran it, I found there was a problem with the EGR.

I have read the thread on here about cleaning it out, but try as I may, I cannot get the valve off and have broken 2 hex keys in trying to get it off.

I have now decided to buy a new valve and get a garage to fix it. I have read that the part is cheaper from Vauxhall and I think it’s the same one that goes in the Zafira 1.9 diesel.

Does anyone know the parts number from either Vauxhall or Fiat?

HEALTH WARNING: take care - the 1.9/8v & 1.9/16v EGR are different units, & check-out the gaskets are latest issue.

55 CromaII 1.9/16v 150HP EGR: ... 031 (Vauxhall)

That is a very good price, i heard the GM part was about £100 normaly. Reading the posts on egr's is it worth changing them after so many years ?

Mine is 5 years old done 40k miles and is original, i imagine by now it is very sooted up. I wonder if this would increase my fuel economy and possibly performance by swopping it.

O it gets plenty of that over the weekends and a good dose of millers in every tank. I will have to see how long i can eek out the original egr.
