wondering whats up with my GP sporting, doesn't seem to have much poke "anymore" I've had the car 9 months & done 10k in that time, its on about 36/37k now. service was carried out & reset done by the independent Fiat dealer when I bought it. had the common EGR problem at Xmas, changed that as it had seized solid, reset the ECU as the light was on (EGR). i don't feel that it is going as well as it should, whistle from the turbo doesnt seem apparent anymore (perhaps my hearing is going with my age now i've reached 30's lol) my commute is 7 mile sometimes in traffic, but I do around 150 on the mway at wkends, shouldn't be clogged up i wouldn't have thought. what should i expect performance & mpg wise, a company 1.8tdci mondeo (same age same miles) seems a lot more responsive. anyone know what the live data should read? I've access to my mates snap-on solus pro with the most recent software. also I have a copy of fiatecuscan on my laptop. any ideas much appreciated

If it is not a turbo-related issue, I would check tyre pressures and brake pads in case they are rubbing against the discs, hence slowing you down. Assuming ECU does not show any faults, that is. What is your fuel economy, is it worse than before? Have you tried using any premium diesel, my MJET seems to like BP Ultimate and Total Excellium, less so Shell V Power and Texaco Techron. AIr filter, oil filter, correct oil, I assume they are all as per manufacturer. Can't think of anything else, I am sure other M-jetters will advise more expertly.

Last full service about 10k ago, according to the service indicator another 8 to go, I've new tyres on the front running between 2.4-2.6bar as per the manual, rears are also set as per manual. Tried it recently on bp ultimate at 1.39 & litre made no difference, it also had a dose of injector cleaner at xmas after I sorted the EGR which made it better for that tank as for fuel economy im getting about 37mpg where I was getting 42 6 months ago (does the cold weather make this much difference). Bear in mind my last car was a Clio 172 & i got an average (calculated tank to tank) 35mpg, the GP is awful when you compare it to that, the idea of having a diesel was to save some money on fuel

At the moment we are still using winter diesel, this reduces mgp give it a few months and normal diesel will be back and you mpg will rise slightly. In the winter i am only getting 38 mpg out of mine where as in the summer i was getting 42 it's just the bloody diesel m8. Role on summer :)

No matter the vehicle, no matter the oil, no matter the usage. I wouldn't go beyond 10k* oil & filter changes. To do so is folly, IMHO. *Or 12 months whichever occurs first.

iirc someone mentioned that diesels only get effective mpg wise after they are warm this could explain the really low mpg also because of the cold weather( when it was 12oc i was getting 5mpg more than at 1oc) and winter diesel.

could it just be that your more used to the car now. i notice that after driving a transit diesel then going back to mine its really slow i realise theres prob a few hp missing but it takes a while to get used to the less power again.

is there a certain amount of revs that it is slow upto or to?

have you checked the air filter because it might be partially blocked or might need replacing?

some injector cleaner, i just to put a bottle of millers eco sport in a couple times a year. Use to make a difference and running the tank right down and the putting v power diesel in once a month or so.

You've prob just got use to the power maybe?

agree with the services intervals as mentioned, use to change my oil every 5/6k (half year) and them all the other bits around at 10k.

I use millers eco boost every time i fill up, a bottle of it only costs about a tenner from flebay and that will last you ten tank fills. To be honest i havn't noticed any increase in power or mgp but it is suposed to help keep the engine cleaner and as my car is still on the original egr after 40k it needs all the help it can get.
