Hi
I noticed yesterday that my punto has different drum brakes, the drivers side is all flat and smooth whilst the passenger side has what appears to be indentations on the the flat face.

Someone suggested to me that some cars only use one wheel braking when operating the hand brake.

The car is only 3 years old and as far as i know has never been in a accident. Anyone know the reason for this? :s

Cheers

but i thought that they should be the same model as the wear rate can change on different drums. theres nothing in the records of it being replaced and its highly unlikely it need repalcing in a car only 3 years old surely? :/

Pics would help muchly.

From what you're saying it sounds normal (like anything rotating at speed, the drums need balancing, so small amounts are drilled out of the casting to do this).
