So my CD Player loves skipping and its doing my head in. I have tried cleaning the lens with a cleaner with some success but it doesn't take long for the problem to re-occur.

I am thinking it may be heat related as it only tends to happen after a period of time and then it gets stuck on my CDs (always at different points/songs). When I manage to eject the CDs they are always really hot. This happens on both CDs I have bought (brand new ones) and ones I have burnt at low speed. I am yet to try MP3 CDs however I fail to see why this would make a difference.

Has anybody experienced this and how did they go about solving it? Is it easy to find replacement units or get them repaired? I have a really nice Pioneer headunit from my old car with USB etc. I would be tempted to fit but I assume I would lose the steering wheel controls and Blue&Me functionality.

Thanks.

I had the same problem, i think its just dodgy fiat stereos lol. my discs would get scratched and come out feeling like they were ready to melt. i doubt using a different type of cd will make a difference. i solved it by getting rid :p i fitted my alpine h.u. i lost my steering wheel controls, but i bought an adaptor which cost me about £40 to reconnect them. blue & me functionality will depend on the h.u you're fitting i think.

USB it is then. Might just get an iPod adaptor for it. Or maybe a large USB stick and i'll just have to organise the folders.

We have the same problem in Turkey with Bravo's. Sometimes mp3 player seems to be read the cd but no voice come from speakers. By restarting the engine i can overcome. But this is annoying. Many bravo users made contact with Fiat customer relations about this problem. Some of them's mp3 readers exchanged via guaranty, but the problem still remains.
